Screen Grabs and Image Size

I have been shooting in 720p.

I just went to export my first still (from FCP) and when I brought it into Photoshop I noticed that the image is squeezed. It is reporting the image size as 960 x 720 (which is a 4x3 ratio).

What should I resize it to get back to the widescreen look.

960 x ???

or

??? x 720

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks.

Then I guess that would mean if I wanted to change the other dimension the size would be: 960 x 540

While the picture looks perfect, both of these give a ratio of: 1.77

For some reason I thought the default ratio was for widescreen: 1.66

Am I remembering wrong?

Chris

You want to change the 960 value as they Hd spec calls for 1280x720. DVCPro HD is recorded at 960x720 (anamorphic 1280x720). This fact (combined with many other things) is what keeps the data rate so low for the DVCPro HD codec.

16 divided by 9 = 1.778

European theatrical released films have the 1.66:1 ratio and I think super 16 is 1.66:1. HD is 16:9.
