Sci-fest - The Prizes and Rules

If you want a definition of SciFi, you can easily find one on the net, but if you have *specific* questions about the content of your film, please PM me, so you're not surprised when you enter. Your film can contain anything that would be permissable in a MPAA R-rated film.

No one has mentioned a sound format for the DVD. Can I do up a 5.1 AC-3 file, or is that going to be pointless? (I'm using Vegas)

I believe it has been mentioned previously, and it'll be the same as Zombie Fest. Stereo.

Doing a 5.1 mix wouldn't be pointless (we're doing it), but it'll be for your own use/benefit, not apparently for the Sci-Fi fest/DVD.

A lot? Good sweet Mary and Joseph, we reset the bar. The funny thing is, we didn't even mean to. My mother will never see our flick.

I'm pretty new here. Can anyone tell me if there are regular ongoing contests or do they just come along randomly. This is an awesome site and I'm looking forward to joining in on the next one.

Welcome to the forums, David. We've pretty much settled into an every 3 month schedule (more or less). Once we end one DVXFest, we follow up with the next fest within a few weeks. So our next DVXFest after Sci-Fest wil run from March through May.

where do we find info to upload these things?

Can we send in 5.1 and Stereo mix's for the DVD version?

Hey Jarred!

How about a prize for best score? There's lots of guys working hard on the music for all of these shorts..

I'm good for that idea as well, but I'll be lucky if I even get to score the film I'm supposed to be working on(haven't recieved it yet...).

OUCH! They'd better get their tales in gear, if they want you to score it! Have you asked for a rough draft, or do they even have THAT yet?

Hope you had a GREAT vacation, Zack!

It gets better and better. I will just be happy if yall like the project. But it would be nice to win a prize to heh heh.. I so friken excited it's hard to type.

Peace and love to the DVX forum.

Hello Jared,

I see that the criteria has changed some since the conception of the contest. I was just wondering how I get my name on the list of contestants or is that even imperative? I have a short I am very happy with and am ready to make my submission, but is there not a prize for best direction or production or acting? Or do I read it correctly when you award only screenplay and editing?
