Scene from a digital feature

Re: Scene from a digital feature

The clip was great, I wish we could see more. I thought the acting was pretty good as well. I'm checking out your website one which I think is pretty good!

Re: Scene from a digital feature

Great work, the sound is nice (shotgun ?) Colors are wonderful... very natural...

Any special lens ? Did you recorded it in 24p ? Share your scene settings :)

Congratulations !
Ulisses

Great work.

When will we get to see it in N.Z? Do you think it will be part of the film festival. Unfortunately I'm in Palmerston North so won't make any Auckland screenings but will you have a screening in Wellington?

Also I saw in the interview linked from your website that you wrote the first draft in something like 12 days. That is an amazing effort! Did you sleep during those days?

just recovered from the cast and crew screening...the response has been beyond imagination - no one wants to throw bricks at me, so I guess it must have been good. :D we also had complete strangers in the screening and the exit feedback was mindblowing...

maverick - we used the same lens which came with camera -no special lenses...

thanks for the comments tough_duck, hinsonfilms, Incmedia and vitaly...much appreciated..

ulsisses...thanks for the comments: audio - the whole beach scene has been built in post - ADR + sound... location sound was too variable... no special lenses used.. we shot 25p {24p is only avaiable for NTSC countries camera models}...as far as scene settings are concerned - yep...will ask the DOP and put them up here once i get to know them....

mark - i am just putting in the DVD to the film festivals and keeping fingers crossed that it will get selected for the Wellington and Auckland International Film Festival... also distribution talks are going well - so it might pop up in a video store sometme in the near future... as far as script goes - yeah i did write the first draft in 12 days and i slept heaps - i did nothing in those 12 days except eat, sleep and write the script...no movies, no social outings, no fun whatsoever... :D

thanks all for checking out the website and the scene....

To quote your character: "Ditto" to everyone else's comments, plus a new one of my own: the woman in the clip is stunningly beautiful. And that accent...:)

Judging from what's been shown, It's such a creative piece! both script and visual. I hope to see it entered in some of the upcoming festivals... KUDOS!

Atrips,
Thanks for the reply mate, once again great scenes. great actors, the girl is cute.
beautiful framing. great use of the dvx. When and where can we see the whole thing???
G day!!!!

finally...the DVD is done...but don't know if i can put it up for sale - mainly because i still have to think this one out....what would you suggest... US$ 15 + shipping for a DVD made on my laptop - no special cover or print...just a nice menu and a movie???? would love to hear what everyone thinks....

i am just submitting it into various film festivals and will keep posted on which one it gets into - and you can also check our website for happenings...

personally i think 15$ might be a little much. I would drop it to 9. If your mane goal is to get your work out then you want to make it cheap. I mean a "real" hollywodd movie is less than $20. I still want to see it!

i think i will hold off selling the DVD's....don't have any account setup + if the DVD doesn't play at some one's end then I am stuck with lots of things...:D and i am poor, broke independent film maker...

hopefully the american distribution falls in place quicker..:D i really can't wait to share the movie with the rest of the world.

Adding my voice to the chorus.

Adding my voice to the chorus.

Very nice work. Like the framing & visuals. As others have noted, the sound is great.

What makes it stand out from a lot of dramatic pieces I've seen posted here is the quality of the acting. Very good. Best of luck with festivals and distribution.

That's probably a good idea. If you're burning these off your personal computer it's pretty much inevitable that there will at least be some people out there who won't be able to view it. Then you're in a messy situation that will cause more time and stress than it's worth. Get a solid package together. Getting a good distributor will ease alot of the anxiety.

Gee, I just finally saw this and its pretty darn good. I had a feeling the scene was ADR. It was clean. Your actors looked great. So when are you going to sling me a DVD copy of it.

Great stuff man!

Hi people,

Here are the scene settings we had the DVX100a set to for "Memories of Tomorrow"
Shot on filter 6 cine mode

Detail level -2
V Detail level -1
Detail coring 0
Chroma level +3
Chroma phase 0
Color Temp 0
Master Ped +6

Gammer - Cine - Like
Matrix - Cine - Like

Found that this gave a slightly softer, more filmic look instead of the sharp focus look with video.
thanks for all the great comments!!
