Scene File questions

Hi, I am sure this has been covered already, but I can't for the life of me find any answers in previous threads. How do I create and import my own custom scene file settings? The instruction manual is vague at best and I don't have access to the Barry Green book. Is it possible to import a frame or video clip, tweak the settings (gamma and lift mostly) and see what I get, then import those settings via SD card onto the camera? If so, can anyone run me through the process or link me to a website that goes over this extensively?

Don't know if the HMC has a card slot to exchange scene files, many PannyCams do. But it is easy enough to change them and save them within the cam menus. For me, the best way to develop the scene file recipes is to start with a sample, shoot some footage with it and then pixel peep. Edit the recipe and repeat. When I do this, I make sure there are different colors in the scene along with some dynamic range, frame rates, and possible motion as well. I thought this would be an extended process, but it was surprising how much can be done in half a day if you can shoot next to your viewer.

It sounds like you want to create scene files on your desktop computer and then transfer them to the camera - AFAIK, you can't. You create, edit and save them in the camera. You can transfer them to more cameras via CF card though.

The good news is - if you have a scene file you like, it's fairly fast to dial them in on-set. You really, really, really need a decent external monitor to do this though. The HMC has one of the worst LCDs in the biz.
