Scarlet X Short Film

Here's arguably the first Scarlet Short film:

Love the look. Independently of the quality of the footage, which is superb in my view, this is also a great short film that could've worked with any other camera. However, the amount of detail, the color rendition, the sharpness and Dynamic Range is just fantastic.

Thanks for posting. I thought the colour and detail looked really great. While this was more about the actors performances, it does show that the camera can work for this style of shooting. The lens looked to perform pretty well too.

I'm not sure why there is praise for "Dynamic Range" in this clip here and on reduser. It's a flat, overcast northern day. That's the type of conditions which is forgiving to cameras with limited dynamic range.

Not that the Scarlet X / Epic doesn't have it, but I don't see this short as an example of that range.

Nothing special, but what do I know.

You could probably do the same with an AF100, FS100, or HPX with some Magic Bullet Mojo.

Dynimac range.. why is so many times said that you can gain the same picture with extra fill-light and on optimal weather conditions (flat, overcast northern day)??

You can not mimic higher dinamic range, but higher dinamic range is more promising on bad lightning..

If going to extremes; HDR is extreme dinamic range..and you can not mimic it with good lightning..

I liked the video very much, and sadly..quality of picture is not something you could do similar with AF100, FS100, or HPX with some Magic Bullet Mojo.

cheers

For DR that was pretty good. there was so much detail in those inside to outside shots, geez.

Honestly, the things I saw in this short that I do not feel could be replicated with a much cheaper camera (DSLR) are the things like skin tone and such texture details, and overall color. There's things in this video that I've never seen in digital video before. It looks amazing, and well, wether it's down to users simply knowing what they are doing, or if the quality and redention is really better than anything else, nothing repeatedly makes my jaw drop like Red footage.
