[FS: General] Scammer alert

so here`s the thing. its a video switcher, which i sold but i tested it AT the UPS store & i have both VIDEO AND photo evidence of it working

I'm curious how you would test a switcher at the UPS store. Did you bring a camera + monitor with you as well?

This story just doesn't add up.

this is a tricaster unit, not a manual mixer but the unit was powered on etc.
all you need is basically a monitor/keyboard/mouse.

im not here to "validate" my story if it doesnt add up to you.
was just sharing my experience.

Paypal has the right and often will refund a buyer until the process of a complaint is resolved.
If you have not received the unit back after a certain period of time, the process can also be reversed.

Well, Just wanted to give everyone one last update. Paypal ruled in his favor. So that means no money and no lens for me. I am going to try and fight it still because nowhere did it say anything about him having to send the lens back so we will see. On a side note, I just noticed that his name on paypal is Emanuel, but on a post in introducing himself on dvx he said his name was Alan? Not sure if maybe he goes by alan or if he used a stealth paypal account..

Ugh, that's awful. I would expect that sort of thing from an ebay transaction....but I've always assumed that DVXuser people were even more trustworthy. I will certainly make sure Im looking to see that potential buyers have good histories on this site.

Sorry to hear this. Hope it works out.

Please tell this story!
Uggh. I had sold my my 2nd HVX and a Letus, lenses, etc back in 2009...the whole package was 5k or so. So I figured with Paypal I was protected and I got the payment and sent the gear on its way...I should have let it clear to my bank account because i'll be damned if Paypal didn't pull that money on a complaint that I didn't send what was purchased. I had pics and the whole nine yards. The buyer who is not a member of this board wouldn't take my calls etc so my brother and I hop a plane to Atlanta and drive to the delivery address (and of course I shipped it with a signature requirement). Long story short it was a friggin kid (think 15) trying to scam me. His grandmother answers the door and she's the person who signed for the package. He's not home from school yet so we park and wait. He walks up to the driveway and we're on him. I'm screaming "where the f*&k is my gear or my money!?" My younger brother is a hot head so I have to manage my anger and my brother remembering this is a kid. The grandmother comes out side threatening to call the police, and i'm like f' it callem. But the kid is having none of that. He starts bawling telling granny she can't call the cops, she starts screaming at him "what did you do"? He sold my sh*t, and granny was like a volcano lol! She writes me a check and we stayed in Atlanta for three days waiting on that SOB to clear. I would say i'd never do that again...but 5 grand is a lot of dough. In retrospect you'd probably want to verify residence call local authorities and press charges in person. Crazy

so in my case, i shipped a newtek tricaster studio (tv switcher device) to a buyer in california from ebay
so me being careful, i powered it on at the UPS store, took photos and videos of it working and showing that I was at the UPS store
i had shipped one before, but they told me...they only insure it for damage IF THEY PACK IT THEMSELVES (thats what the boss said)

luckily for me, in this case, the boss was not there, and the employee offered to pack it for me for a minimal cost.
so they charged me for box, foam, packing but i got my insurance for damage AND LOSS

buyer receives item and says its damaged,
i ask him for proof and provide him with proof that its working
he provides no proof of damage.

i speak to ups and arrange for them to go by his residence for damage inspection (he refused to call them)
throughout this time ive spent hours on calls with ebay being transferred to 10 different people telling me different things for over an hour
( i had on my headset so it wasnt so bad)
i also call UPS to find out whats up

ebay ruled in the buyer's favour (my funds have been held and they say that there was damage)
i asked them where is the proof of this damage and how can they say the item is damaged, if according to the tracking info, UPS has not inspected the item as yet (buyer is avoiding UPS it seems)

then afterward, they finally rule in my favour as the buyer never provided any documentation or anything
what a headache and possibly the last time i sell on ebay.

I bought the item through EBay and paid through PayPal. This guy claimed that he was located in Houston but once he sent me a tracking number I saw that it was from Brazil. I submitted the claim once I knew that I was scammed by this low life. I paid $2300.00 for a HPX170 and he sent me a package with a 8gb jump drive not even to my address but to another local business. So i called the post office to ask where the package was delivered but they couldn't remember. I obtained the signature confirmation card and saw that it was delivered to another business. I had to submit receipts and had to get a police report.

Hey everyone, not to beat a dead horse or in this case a dead thread but I just thought I'd give a quick update of what ended up happening! After doing everything I could, showing the proof of how/why this kid was a scammer I hadn't heard anything for weeks. I was told a couple times that although (whoever I was speaking to) agreed 100% that it sounded like something wasn't right and that I had a chance of winning.. in the majority of cases buyers win. So to my surprise I woke up this morning to an email saying my case had finally been resolved IN MY FAVOR. And that the money is all being deposited back into my account. Woo!! :D
