Save Andromeda/Hydra!!!

sad. some things are too good for human consumption. Hopefully this doesnt go into the stack of oppressed technology society could and was benefiting from.
 
Is there truly any hope for this to be saved? For someone as in-tune with the online community as Juan he seems to have said very little on saving it.

It really sucks too because I was saving up to buy the Andromeda.

There is hope, he said it's "internal use only" future could be changed, and thats what I'm working to do.

Look up a list price for the next RAW capable 3 chip (or even single chip for that matter) HD camera. Andromeda and Hydra are cheap for what they offer....
 
Damn right they are show me a 3ccd, 4:4:4 camera that pumps the reselution that the Andro upgrade puts into the DVX for less then 10 grand (and that is pushing it) and then you can say "its expensive." used DVX: $1500-$2400 Andro: about $2000 Laptop to capture to:$1000

The choice is yours, spend 5 grand or so for UNCOMPRESSED 4:4:4 10bit RAW HD, or spend like, 10 gs or more for something that still has compression on the colors. expensive?
 
You can have HD, or you can have 4:4:4, but you can't have both from the Andromeda.

From the Hydra, maybe -- maybe 4:4:4 (or darn close to it) at 720p, but at 1080p or 2K res no, it wouldn't be a full 4:4:4.
 
Barry is referring to the pixel shift being used when going HD. Think bayer filtered sensor, but each channel is a separate sensor, but still physically offset. Spatially, its HD, not chromatically, but at the end of the day... its the image being made that counts.

I'm sure, one way or another, this will make some sort of impact. I'm brewing some stuff for DVXuser, they have offered me some help. I hope to have it done ASAP, but I gotta take care of some clients first, keep an eye out.
