Saturday - Letus

disjecta

Lucky Duck
Some random stuff around my yard, all shot with the Letus and Nikon 28mm, 50mm and 100mm lenses.

There were some specks on the inside of the Letus that I didn't see so you'll notice that on every shot... :(

Adding a 35mm adapter to my tools for shooting nature scenes has been very interesting. Shooting with the Nikons gives a macro feel but also adds a magical atmosphere which I love.

About a minute long, file size is about 80mb. Encoded to 720p

nice shots, i like the CU of the outside table as it pans up. The speckles on the adapter are an infamous trademark of the letus, that's one of the reasons why i sold that piece of crap. no offense to you, it's just my feeling on that adapter.

I think it's anything but a piece of crap. It may not be as slick as the other adapters on the market but it's equally as capable and is a great bargain to boot.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course :)

One of the other positives about the Letus is that you can open the whole thing up and clean it thoroughly. It's just a matter of removing two screws. I just did that and got rid of all the speckles.

Fantastic! I love it.

It goes without saying that you have a great eye, but regarding this piece, I think you nailed the color this time. Gone is the hint of magenta that was present on some of your previous work.

Disjecta I think you are getting a lot of traffic on your page right now because I am DLing at 25KB/sec.

That's beautiful Dis..

Is that the flip enhanced? I've been looking at these for a while, but it will still be a while before I can get one.

Nice work.

Downloading now. But the dust inside was one of the reasons I sold mine also. I had it apart 3 times in total. First time when I bought the unit. Second time a few months later as some returned and again before I sold it. It wouldnt bother me cleaning the unit , if it just wasnt such a mission to do it.

same here... I would be on set with a cleaned out unit, put the camera down between takes but when I picked it back up the GG would be speckled with a few spots. I'd have to take the whole thing apart on set and go through the cleaning process again. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the images that I got but damn it got frustrating sometimes.

I agree. Plus, it does the flipping for you.

I've taken mine apart a few times but the specks you speak of get less and less everytime. Plus I've used the TV method and a lot of those specks are take out for good. I does take time to do the work but then again for only $700 it's a bargain. I've found more specks on my camera lenses than within the letus.

Disjecta, I'm going to be using an XHA1 and am looking for an adapter and lenses. Will these make the cut:
-Letus HD100 (or should I use the Letus Flip Enhanced)
-Nikon/Nikkor 28mm F2.8 AIS

I hope to produce images half as good as yours. Will this do?

You should get the flip enhanced. The 100 is for JVC cameras. Plus you should invest in a quality lcd monitor. I tried without one for a shoot. Got frustrated in focusing without one.
