Sanyo HD1 is better than HVX ???

Did you happen to leave out the bit where it's 440 megabits too?
Versus 9 for the Sanyo?

Yes, I also left out that hdcamsr can be 880Mbps too.
I'm just tired when people tell me what mpeg4 is, like it would be one codec with one resolution with one datarate with one bit depth with one compression ratio etc.

The fact that most highest quality and most expensive hd-format uses mpeg4 as well as the cheapest and smallest cell phone's video camera, should tell people that mpeg4 is very versatile standard. And first ISO-mpeg4 standard came 1998, but AVC (h.264) is getting mainstream this year.

As some of us know mpeg4 has so many profiles and variants inside those that practically you could replace every word "video" (or "audio") with "mpeg4".

"no mpeg4 is not better than DVCproHD" makes as much sense than "no video is not better than DVCproHD".

I'm also getting tired that people think that fast progress in ict-technology can somehow change the way fotons react in the camera.
Camera with small imager can never be as good as same system with bigger imager. These small new "hd"-toys and comments like "in a couple of years cell phone cameras will be as good as motion picture cameras today" makes me just smile...

Totally agreed. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that at the same bitrate, MPEG-4 would probably spank DVCPRO-HD. Given enough bandwidth, MPEG-4 (and even MPEG-2) can do amazing things. Given very little bandwidth, not so amazing. And HDCAM-SR gives it plenty enough bandwidth!

Again, absolutely agreed.

Without a doubt. The MPEG-2 profile/level combination 422P@HL has a 100-Mbps bandwidth and supports 4:2:2 color encoding and up to 1080p60 with 1,920 pixels per line. The rule of thumb is that at any given quality level MPEG-4 is up to twice as efficient as MPEG-2.

Hold on dude, the sensor on this Sanyo is 1/2.5" CCD if you bothered to look, and thats close to 1/3", so its hardly a small sensor (relatively speaking).

Anyway my feeling is that tape base camcorders used for family videos is dying as we speak, cams like the Sanyo and JVC tapeless are the future for daddycam.

"After I've read about Sanyo, Hvx200 seems more and more a piece of junk"

I hope you're kidding. MPEG-4 is uneditable junk.

To me the Sanyo seems to be a great tool to shave your face after a looong good shooting with the VHX. Anyway: Let´s wait, grow old and then let´s buy the perfect camera for our children to play with.

Life´s now and it wants to be filmed!!!
