Sanity 4 - UNBELIEVABLE PERFORMANCE!

Update: I installed the Cake 2.2 hack and all formats play on my PS3 now. And Cake hack is supposedly higher mbps. So may be something else like GOP or something.
 
Question: I have Transcend 16GB class 10 cards (20MBPS). Will they be sufficient for Sanity 4 or 5? And if so, any idea in terms of footage-time?

I like the images I get from Sanity, but sadly I cannot stick to it due to frequent write errors and playback failures. Resetting, formatting, reloading-none of it alleviated the symptoms.

This does not sound normal. What card are you using?

Some of these fast cards have a problem where they momentarily drop way down in their write speed, causing a write error. I'm not saying that's the issue, but it might be. I highly recommend that you try different cards. I developed Sanity using Sandisk Extreme HD Video 30M class 10 cards, so naturally that would be my prime recommendation.

Here is an update for SANITY with vastly improved stability for the PAL version. This sucker is STABLE. In fact, so stable that I was able to raise the data rate in FSH/SH mode to 36M. So, there's better picture quality, too.

I've also updated the NTSC version, although there was nothing wrong with version 4.0. I simply applied some of the things I learned from the PAL version, to make it even more stable. Call it preventative maintenence.

Again, what SANITY is about is top picture quality is ALL shooting modes with reasonable data rates and 100% reliability.

Hey Ralph. Anyway I could get a similar link to SANITY 5.1? I have been using the original sanity for a while now and want to upgrade to firmware 1.1.

I can't seem to access files on Personal-view. My comp can't seem to download the zips there it just saves an image of the zip. I made sure I was logged in. It also seems I am forbiden to post there but I have no idea why even after donating half a year ago. weird.

thanks you all for your info about Sunity. It will also be my choice. I only do not know, since I am the beginner, what does it mean SPANNING. Can somebody describe with other words, what it is. At Sanity 5 the spanning shall not work in HBR mode on Panasonic lanses.
I have the sandisk 95 Mb / 32 GB card. Will it work with this one. The other one is an Class 10 / 30 MB /16 Gb from LD. Any recomendation?

card storage is fat32 which has a file limit of 4gb. if the recording reaches 4gb, it needs to SPAN to a new clip.
e.g.
im shooting a video, it saves to 0001.mts, it reaches 4gb file size, it will span the file to 0002.mts without interrupting or lost frames.

now if it doesnt span, it means after 4gb your camera will stop recording.

I started with Sanity 5 with the 1.1 firmware and started upping the MB data to see where it became unstable. Got as far as 100000000 in SH and still no write errors! Using a SanDisk 32 GB 30mb/sec card, and a Pany OIS 14-140mm lens. Tortured the hell out of it with the Crunchy Chart and my shrubbery of death and still no problems at all.

I noticed the IQ in dark underexposed corners of my yard really improved when i got the video bit rate up to 70000000

I only tested in 720P 60fps as that's all I shoot but it rocks

Great detail and handles motion extremely well.

Ihave just started with Sandisc 95 MB/s 32 GB on my GH2. I pushed the sanity 5 for all three modes FSH, HBR and 24 H on the GH2 up to 44 MB/s. There was no write error. But at playback on the camera the playback stoped at 24H. Previous I used the LG 30 MB/s 32 GB. As far as I can see I got the same error at playback of 24H. FSH and HBR playback are OK.
I noticed some other issues, but not in terms of the card, but in terms of the settings.

With Sanity 5 I notice a high improvement only in FSH P-Mode 1080I and 720p settings. I can move the camera how ever I want. The picture is always very smooth and ther is no flicking or shimmer of the shadows- Also the movement of the persons on the video....is very fluently and sharp. I get the same results also in M mode with the ap. of 8 and shutter speed 40, 50, 60-200.
When I use the HBR or 24H Mode in 1080i or 720p, the sharppness stays but the moving of the picture is stocking, i got flicking and shimmer. The worst case is the 24H Mode. In case of using tripod and making a video of an tree in the wind with both modes is OK. But if there a person passes infront of the camera and it taks a half of the picture recording, there I can observe the stocked moving of the person. This stocking is not very big, but I can notice is with my eyes. In FSH mode, this is not the case.
Ralph can you please give me an advice, how I can fix this with the camera settings (I asume- it can not be done) or with the addoption of Sanity 5: Data-Flow rate, GOP size,....

I pushed up the FSH Mode on 70 MB/S. I got an write error
on Sandisk 95 MB/s and 32 GB. I changed to the old card LG 30 MB/s and 32 GB. This one did the 70 MB/s FSH Mode without any problem. On both I cannot playback the 24H Mode - with normal Sanity 5 settings. At both mods the setting of FSH was 1080i and Pal. I use only pal.
