Samyang / Rokinon / Etc 35mm

I couldn't find a good thread on the Samyang 35mm, hopefully I didn't just miss it...

But I was wondering what people's thoughts were on this lens (for video of course), especially people who have it. Recently I've noticed my go to lens for video is oddly my cheap 35mm CCTV lens. It's just a nice focal length in between wa and telephoto that is really useful if you can't change lenses a lot. I'm also really enjoying my Rokinon 85mm (Nikon mount), it's not a perfect lens but it's capable of some pretty great images.

I'm curious about the different mounts, I just checked B and H and saw there is a M4/3 mount! Not exactly as future proof as Nikon, but it might be better for getting infinity focus and not having to worry about adapter jiggle? I also saw some people talking about a "video version" of the lens with a clickless aperture. I can't find it though!

So I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on this lens. It's a bit expensive, seems smarter to get the Nikon version for possibly using it on a full frame camera in the future. Otherwise there probably are 35mm legacy lenses that go for cheaper on ebay.....

Awesome, those were helpful

Interesting that the only clickless aperture version is a Canon mount. I actually have a 7d but I have a Nikon adapter... I could go Canon. I'm definitely wanting this lens though...

well i 2 have a 7d but went nikon as to better future proof myself. Never know what camera i'll be shooting on later on.

That's true. I haven't been to happy with my Canon to Nikon adapter, it's one of the cheaper ones and it's a little loose. I haven't really felt like spending money on a better adapter since I barely ever use the 7d for video anymore anyways

I'm curious about a comparison between the Super Takumar 35 f2.0 vs Samyang 35

Since I have the Super Tak 50mm f1.4 which I love to use, maybe not my best lens, but the focus ring is so smooth. So much fun to manually focus, while my 85mm Samyang needs a bit more effort to get a moving

I imagine the Samyang will be a bit sharper at f2.0 though.. And I really like buying lenses new so I know what I'm getting
