Hey fellas, I've been looking to find the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 for my GH2 and don't know which version to buy. Is the Four Thirds version available and if yes, what adapter do I need?
Many thanks.
Why the Nikon. Why not canon mount. They both have manual aperture right? Canon mount one can also be used on Magic cam without adapter, Canon (without), as wells Gh2(with)
I'm open to either but need more information. Searching shows that the only difference is the focussing direction, correct? Any issues with choosing the Canon adapter vs the Nikon adapter (i.e. cost, fit, etc.)?
It just depends on what other types of glass you plan on using alongside it. There's some really good 4/3 and Nikon glass you can put on the GH2, not quite so many Canon, so I'd avoid that mount. But if you want to use Zuiko glass in the future, go with 4/3. If you want to go with some Zeiss ZFs, then Nikon would be the way to go. If you don't have any glass plans in the future, then just get the best deal for your money I suppose.
Great points. I currently have Panny lenses exclusively, with the exception of the Oly 45mm f/1.8. But, having seen some samples from the Samyang, they definitely have quite a different look and I like that look. So.. sorry back to the beginning, Samyang with Nikon to MFT adapter then? Any recommendations?
1. The Olympus version can be had on ebay for $320ish NEW, whereas more popular mounts like a Canon are $430ish USED.
2. There seems to be a problem with the aperture ring, mine sometimes doesn't stop down then all of a sudden stops down multiple stops on occasion - as in 1.4 clicked to F2 does nothing, clicking from F2 to F2.8 does nothing, clicking 2.8 to 4.0 then all of a sudden it'll stop to what seems to be 5.6. If you look at OliviaTech's review vs. the Sigma, she had a similar problem.
3. The lens feels well built, but it's plastic and very bendable whereas the 85 was more rigit. The focus ring's plastic extension has too much space underneath of it and you can feel it bend and bow with a light squeeze. Focusing also has a small delay for micro focusing.
Aside from those major points, and Im thinking of returning it, I love the close focusing and the IQ is damn good.
