Samsung NX1 firmware update 1.30

These "Men and their magnificent flying machines" arguments repeat two countervailing - and largely illogical - themes.

Theme A - "My great grandfather flew in Me-109/P-51/Zero/Yak-3 and, if it was good enough for him, it'll be good enough for you.

Theme B - "If you're not flying the Death Star, you're not a real pilot".

The dude is from Spain, apparently. Maybe he confused the term or something?
in size
I would say the NX500 is a tourist camera in size and portability which is what Samsung had planned. The only problem is that it also offers the same H265 conundrum. The stills side is another matter. Absolutely fantastic photographs out of the box.

FWIW, Tony Northrup has just uploaded a long (~ 1hr) tutoring video on NX1 on his YouTube channel.

Disclaimer * I have not seen it nor am I under an impression that Tony is offering a certification course a la Phil Bloom.

Say what?

Anyway, there are already 3 or 4 posts talking about what a "tourist camera" could be in this context, and they are not too far apart from each other, so I think it wasn't that difficult to get what he meant.

With all respect for Andrew Putschogel and his team, I feel like that colors in Yvonne trailer look a bit on the videoish side...and weird on the third shot of the mother's face, where I see greenish tints below her mouth and reddish on her chest.
I'm looking forward to see the full movie though.

LOL! This is just too funny! From a You Tube compressed trailer, just priceless!

Here's a graded 16 sec clip ---

BTW, Windows 10 should be able to decode H265 and, from memory, so do new Intel chips that also contain several GPU cores.

With a production that size, would they have just rented something else if it wasn't backed by Samsung? Also I wish there was more light on the director interview shots, the harsh backlight thing is hard to watch. I'd like to see the finished product.

This is a production to showcase the Samsung NX1 camera!!!! The Director was at New York Photo Plus in Samsung's booth and he is involved with the cameras' marketing!!! I am sure Samsung actually paid for all the production costs thus a "production that size"!!! It is in Samsung's best interest to have the camera used by professional and experienced individuals at this moment in order to show how well it handles in pro situations. And I have to tell you I own one and it is remarkable. It can easily compete with anything in its price range and ever much higher. It is a fantastic little powerful camera that can compete professionally with very high end results.

I own the NX1, along with a D750 and A5100. It is a great camera. Pretty cool to see it hooked to the external recorder, monitors and such. I skimmed through it because I can't stand the backlit interview, so I didn't catch all the finer points. Thanks.

Yeah, the interview was pretty ugly but I think the short is going to look pretty good. Good to see the NX1 is starting to be recognized. Great camera for a great price.

Unfortunately ... I learned more about the Samsung corporation....then I did about their camera...
However, the short seemed like it would be fun piece...

For the style and genre of short this was, I thought the lighting, color grade, and atmosphere was perfect for this project. Nothing was jarring in the way of video look to me, and thought the average consumer would not question the look and aesthetics of this project in comparison to other in its genre. However the posterizing going on was somewhat distracting, and not sure how much youtube played a part with this?

Overall I thought this was very well executed and shows that the nx1 is a capable cam, but would like to find out how much of that posterization was going on in the original footage, or if an aggressive grade may have added to it. If anyone has knowledge and could answer this for me would be greatly appreciated.
