Samsung NX1 firmware update 1.30

Looks good to me. Specially in the improved Auto Focusing and improved FHD movie. If they could improve the bitrate a bit on 4k modes and give us a choice to record on a h264 flavor I would be even happier.

Oh! And a lens rebate promotion so I can get the 18-200 faster and cheaper! LOL!
 
Nothing huge, but it shows they are continuously improving and listening. Best bits to me: improved AF, reads more of the sensor in 1080p60, has 1080p120 directly available now.

The wider gamma mode that would make me buy one will have to wait for another time...

We should start a wish list and somehow get it to the proper contact at samsung for the next release, which seems to be coming fast and furious, lol.

Macgregor, the firmware can be updated by just connecting to wifi and selecting the firmware update option in the camera. not sure if the update is on the website as it was not when I was on last.
 
1080p looks to me much improved! Also auto focusing in low light much better. Keep it up Samsung! I love my NX1! Can we get internal video RAW, an H264 option and tiny higher bitrate on 4K? Maybe Samsung?
 
yes John, 1080 looks definitely improved. and the improved low light auto focusing was a welcome addition. I used the nx1 with 16 to 50 2.0 on a recent wedding and this comco shined. could not be happier. my only complaint was the 120 slo motion mode was soft to me, but the added 120p in hd mode addresses that issue now. Just a slightly improved log, and increased bit rate, and I will be like, ursa mini who?

I am hopeful Samsung has a few more improvements coming. I started using the NX1 for event photos and they look fantastic too. I am now dealing with the H265 conversion and my computers need upgrading too. So far loving the NX1!
 
^ Sounds impossible to me. From my RS measurements, sensor readout time is 30-32ms, which would limit fps at just above 30fps. In order to go above that, you'd have to start reading the top of the T+1 frame before you finished reading the bottom of the T frame.
 
Bitrates in HD have jumped pretty dramatically. Now 60P, 30p and 24p are up to 80/60/60 Mbit/s respectively. Previously they were 40/18/16 Mbit/s in pro mode. Samsung did say improved data rates in HD, but wow what a boost. Everything tops out at 80 though, I wonder if there's a hardware limitation that's capping data rates or if something better will be unlocked in the future.
