Samsung Enter Video Market

I know, the topic is deceiving.

Most Televisions, fridges, stoves etc. are now produced in Korea with better quality and MUCH cheaper prices. Korea is now dominating the TV market and quickly over takin Japan ( Sony, Panasonic , JVC etc. for TV production / prices.

I wonder when LG or Samsung will enter the video camera market ?

I can see BETTER cameras and BETTER prices on the horizon.

Samsung already entered - and then LEFT the video camera market.
I'm holding in my hand a Samsung NX1 28-megapixel 4k camera that shoots better video than a panasonic GH4.
It's already discontinued and out of production.

And the only way they might return is by acquiring Nikon - Fuji and Panasonic got huge parent companies backing them up; Olympus ain't worth nothing; Canon is too expensive and diversified, Sony's a competitor in the smartphone industry. Nikon still has 20% of the photo business and, at a $6B market cap, can be swallowed tomorrow.

But, chances are, if Nikon goes, it will be to the Chinese.

I'm surprised that Nikon has not already been purchased.

Be well.

Most M&A won't take a bite into a declining market.

That said, a non-Japanese company that doesn't have to play by the keiretsu system may take a much bigger slice of the photo-video pie.
