Saddest Scenes in Cinema

If you are a film buff, you'll tear up at the end of Modern Times, when the Tramp, an icon of the silent era, walks away into the horizon, leaving forever.

The Elephant Man, going to bed for the last time, prepping his bed to sleep on his back like a normal person. Barber's Adagio for Strings plays. I thought I would have to wheel my wife out of the theater. I get choked up within a few seconds of this - youtube link - final sleep

1. When De Niro goes back into his coma state in Awakenings. It's done so nicely how he's drawing and then just come to a stop.
2. When Monica Potter (?) I think dies in patch adams.
3. Think Phenomenom had it's moments too.

Osama and Au Revoir Les Enfants; the whole damn thing, both of them. Two of the saddest movies ever. Also, Dancer In The Dark. The end of Blue Valentine. Plainview abandoning HW on the train in There Will Be Blood. The end of Wendy and Lucy.

where did u cry ..sorry I love these but cant feel where one would start to cry .

"My friends...You bow to no one."....:crybaby:

I wouldn't call it a sad scene though. Surprised no one has mentioned Elliot's speech to E.T. when he thinks he's dead. Kills me.

^ anyone ever see this video by White Lies? The end kinda made me misty eyed, LOL probably because I was remembering ET.

They did a good job, although I still can't figure out the meaning of this video. :undecided Nice homage, though.

Bridges of Madison County - When Clint Eastwood is standing in the rain and looking at Meryl Streep in the truck. The next five minutes are heart-wrenching. It was the first time I ever cried in front of a girlfriend.

Marley & Me - The scene when Owen and Marley are sitting on the hill for the last time. Anyone whose had an amazing dog, and had to put it to sleep, knows exactly why the ending was the longest 10 minutes EVER.

UP - Pixar is amazing. To be able to make an audience cry, for characters we've only known for a few minutes, is an incredible accomplishment.

I gotta go! There's something in my eye...

Oh, come on -- in Up, when Carl stands on the porch of the house he shared with Ellie holding the single balloon from her funeral -- if that doesn't choke you up, you're dead inside . . . or have never known love.

Anyone mention Iron Giant yet?

"Supermaaaaan..."

::sniffle::
