S-log and 444 outputs

So, I have a F3 with Slog in front of me, and so far the only way of getting slog and 422 is to use the SDI output, but that means I can only use one output from the camera.

Any other way of connecting an AKA kiPro to the F3 that I´m missing?

you can always use the sdi pass through out of the ki pro, and split the signal to as many places you want.

if you can't get any log output out of any of the a/b connectors along with the sdi there will be no other way. and i think hdmi is disabled too with log on. if you got good cable management, it's not that big of a deal. had sdi out of f3 to smallhd, out of small hd to ki mini, out of ki mini to video village, and split from there to multiple sources just a few weeks ago. no complaints from DP, AC, or operator. but i'd try to mess around with some settings and see if you can get dual 422 out of the a/b connectors, or at least turning 1 on for 422. and using pre built lut for the normal sdi tap.

Is S-Log possible at 1080 60p over dual link?

that is a certified spec from Sony on press releases, so the answer is yes, but only solutions are, and going to be

sr recorder
cinemartin
cinedeck
gemini
computer capture

and you need some fast ass SSD's to boot, with the cinedeck you need the raided SSD and the maximum upgrade for hardware and firmware wise. that's 3 grand a ssd.

BTW, I´ll test more tomorrow but so far I´ve noticed a couple things from shooting with the Slog upgrade in the F3:
- the DR is infinite
- sensitivity seems to be closer to 2000ISO when shooting in Slog and setting mid grey around 35-40%. I´m confused:)

I guestimated about 14.5 stops Mac. Whats your guess? about the same?

I say about 14 stops withput testing. Definately more than film. I could not test because I lacked tools to be able to literally test such a high dynamic range sensor (you run out of NDs or light to test properly)
In terms of dr, noise and price i'm sold with this camera. I'm not sure about colours yet since slog is so flat i cant judge properly.

the immense sensitivity really adds the DR more in the low end than highlight protection. you can easily just shoot to protect highlights (with so much more on the top that should be easy to do) and let the high iso take care of keeping detail in your mids and lows, with little to no noise penalty. this camera is insane considering how much it is.

Film is ~14.5 stops.

There is the old way to test it. The F3 heavy ND filter is 1/64th or 6 stops.

Use a lens that goes from f1.4 to f22 that gives you nine stops (1.4 2.0 2.8 4 5.6 8 11 16 22) plus 6 for the ND filter for a total of 15.

That ought to do it to go from almost blown out with no ND filter to nearly black at f22 with the ND filter. If its nearly black at F16 and totally black at F22 then there's 14 stops. If you can see some usable detail at f22 its ~15.
