Sorry for the thread jack. Problem with BR VO is that it was so tacked on at the end because of fear and desperation on the part of the morons who took control of the thing because of budget overruns. I too like the noir-feel that the VO gave it, but the VO was so bad it was too bad they didn't do a better job of it. And speaking of tacked on, maybe some of you like the VO, but that tacked-on "happy ending" almost ruined the movie outright (not to mention leaving out the little detail of the unicorn scene, which ads a whole other layer of complexity to the story, .i.e. was Deckard a Rep?) while leaving IN the unicorn oragami at the end?

Now, back the topic at hand. Although BR's VO was questionable, I liked the VO in this flick very much. It was well thought out, didn't give too much away too soon, wasn't as "literal" tell me what I should be thinking as BR was, and it was also pleasant on the ears (got to love that female accent, tantalizing) unlike Harrison's purposely-crappy attempt at VO in BR. So, I say congrats on a job well done with the VO!!!

And although some may feel the similarities are not a good thing, I say bah! Artificial intelligence, memories, emotions, flash forwards/backs, what is human, more human than human? I FREAKIN' LOVE IT -- SciFi at its best... I can't wait for the full-length version of this thing.

CONGRATS!

I assume with the 35mm adapter you had a focus puller at all times working next to the camera man? How did you find that worked for you?

LOL. I am my own focus puller. Didnt you get to see the BTS photos on the beggining of this thread? They must be in the first 3 or 4 pages.

Really? How dificult was that? How did you set up your shots (plan them) and how did you do it, by feel? By some sort of marker?

I ask because I have considered getting some sort of adapter but I often work alone or with just a few other people and I'm not sure how hard it would be to use.

Thanks

EDIT: I just saw the grabs, now I'm REALLY ****ing impressed!

TAINTED, I found a great story in the same Blade Runner world. I´ve never seen a fan film in the Blade runner universe but i´d like to make this shortfilm next year.

OK, this woman is very deep. She seems to do a lot of standing around looking at things and being thoughful.
And I would be interested in seeing the directors cut as well. And not just to see more of the woman. I'll have to PM you after the fest :)

And such a nice bottom half it is, I would have liked to have seen more of it....

My thinking is that when it comes to beautiful women, more nudity = more better...

In fact, I can't think of a single film ever made in which the film itself wasn't enhanced by it. EVER.

That's my position and I'm sticking to it.

:D

LOL!!!

Cy Hogg made it all in shake from a hand held moving shot.

He tracked the shot, made then the matte painting, and insterted the animated 3D CGI over.

Very impressive, indeed. He's got skills.

Great job on the exposure on that shot- The water is nice and blue, and you can see the detail in the white suit, great job.

It is gorgeous. I want to shoot at this location, dang it!!

Macgregor is the next Andrew Blake. Why don't you go ahead and make a porn hehe? Id buy one. I even have a title created for it: "Similo II: Revenge of the the Sex-bots" ...OK, the title needs a little work.

Why is this even an issue ?

Good question. Personally, I tend to find it more distracting when two people are having sex in a film and we miraculously see only shoulders, clavicles, and the occaisional side of the hip. Movie sex always seems to involve a lot of attention to where the sheets are. And men in movies often seem to be much less interested in getting a woman's bra off than any man I've ever met.

And, y'know, that's fine, not every flick should be a skin fest, but the fact is when people are having sex they're usually naked and I think there's something a little odd about the mentality that it's somehow better to hide that.

But that's just me.

As long as it serves the story, I'm in agreement with you. But when there is a weak story and they add a couple of breasts to draw more interest / excitement, I see it as poor story telling. If the only reason a story / film is interesting is because of a naked woman, then you need to get a new story, or switch genres as there is a whole category devoted to non-stories and breasts.

In this film, I think it serves the story and is appropriate. Whether or not is it nessicary is another question all together.

Macgregor-

Could you share any tips on how you went exposing your shots? For example, did you leave the DVX fully open, and then adjust the lens, did you open up the lens, and then adjust the dvx, a combination of both? When using the LCD to judge your exposure, did you have the zebra's on, adn to what setting? Did you just judge it by eye, or was there something you were looking for specifically?

No question there. I'm just saying that if a story has a sex scene in it, I don't see why nudity should be a question. Obviously sex and nudity can be used to try and cover up a shoddy story, and then you've got problems. I just think it's silly to say "Oh, the sex scene is good, but I'm not sure the nudity was necessary." It just makes no sense, to me, to divorce the two concepts. It's like saying "I liked the gunfight, but I don't know if you should've shown the blood." It just seems an odd "decency" double standard. Sex and death are okay, except for the blood and nipples. ;)

Agreed.

And why is that? Not trying to be cute, but I really don't understand your point.
