“Apologies to everyone for this misunderstanding. My creation of the image of (non-existent) Nikon D4 is a study for a product visualization on my portfolio. Personally, I am a Nikon fan and own Nikon D3s, so I tried to achieve visuals of Nikon’s new camera based on what I knew and liked about their latest products. Unfortunately, just before finishing the image, I sent it to few of my colleagues to discuss possible improvements and few moments later, these images showed up online. I apologize to everyone for causing these fake news.”

yeah right and will kill your cards because none of them would stand raw capture quality speed, cards market is not even ready for this format. It is Hilarious that someone could actually believe that it is true.
And no it would not kill canon,it sounds cool huh "kill canon" lol internet.

You overestimate how much bandwidth RAW actually needs. With RAW, each pixel only has one channel vs RGB/YUV which has 3. Not to mention current high speed cards not not being maxed out either with the current crop of 50mbit/s H.264 DSLRs. Look at REDs RAW. They are already at the point where lossy RAW can be written to CF at 3K/4K.

Yes, but they are very picky which cards they allow in their system. They've actually tested all the new cards from the big brand names and none of them can hold up to their own (costly) product. To sustain the bandwidth throughout the whole range of memory without dropouts is the the problem. More to be read at reduser.com.

Pah!
Poppycock!
Balderdash!

Fools!

Nonetheless, Sony has failed us, Panasonic has failed us.
It is up to Canon or Nikon to deliver s35mm sensor, 24/25/30/50/60 frame rates, 1920x1080 and XLR audio in camcorder form-factor.
OLPF optimized for 1080 would be the icing on the cake.
Someone WILL produce a camera with ALL of the above in the sub $5k bracket :)
It's only a matter of time.

I think you need to take a look the Panasonic AF-100.

RRP $6000 but street price will be sub $5k, no doubt. It ticks all of your boxes (and more) with the exception of 4/3" not s35.

m4/3 is a deal breaker....
My LetusXL is approximately the same FOV as m4/3.
Whilst the shallow DOF is perfectly adequate at f2.0 or less, the FOV is half that of FF 35mm, and that is not an acceptable compromise IMHO.
Yes, I know s35mm/APS-C has a FOV roughly 75% of FF, but that's as far as I am prepared to compromise.
Nobody needs to pay large amounts of money for fast m4/3 wide angle lenses when inexpensive legacy 35mm primes can be found in any pawn shop for use with the Holy Grail s35mm camcorder.
Panasonic's mistake was to only recognize the market for shallow DOF yet simultaneously miss the importance of fast wide angle glass to that market.
Wait another 12 to 18 months.... Canon or Nikon will deliver... (or Sony might surprise us with a pro version of the VG10)

Regardless, you can hardly say Panasonic has failed.

They will be first to the market with a large sensor, interchangeable cinema/broadcast camera with all the pro features we want for a sub $6k price.

(and let's not forget that it will take PL mount!)

Hahaha Panasonic has failed us?!

They made the DVX100,a,b (1st successful 24p camera on market... amazing)
They made the HVX200,a (1st handheld 1080p HD, overcrank framerate camera...amazing)
They made the HPX170, (an HVX200a on crack... even better!)
They made the Varicams... (back in the day that thing was siiiick... now it's off the hook )
They made the whole HPX series (300, 500, etc... awesome cams... news workhorse)

Panasonic has been dominating the indie and lower budget narrative, event, and news cinematography sectors for years. A photo company releases some shallow depth of field, but otherwise pretty garbage cameras in comparison, and you turn your back because they don't have one? The GH1 is pretty amazing and despite popularity in comparison, seems to rival Canon admirably enough. Even compared to the HPX170 or HVX200a, canon fails in resolution (ability to resolve), compression, recording time, noise levels, aliasing, jello vision, and MORE. It just seems that shallow DoF has been over-hyped as the quality of importance.

Give these guys a break. A 4/3rds interchangeable camera is coming, along with some idiot proof version of a 3d camera, so I think they've been doing really well. In time you'll get a sub 5k camera with those qualities, but by then you'll just be complaining about how it doesn't have HDR or 2k, 3k, 4k, or 5k resolution... or how it's variable frame rates are not high enough... or how bla bla bla.
Just get the best camera out there, right now, shoot something good, make some money and repeat. It's a tool. Companies aren't out to fail us. Stop looking at them with such high demands like they owe us something.

Panny will do their best to cripple it like the GH1... I am not hopeful.

Ha - have you even used a GH1? And *failed* us? Wow - Panasonic & Canon have given us some unbelievably good tools at an insanely low price point and it largely came out of nowhere and we're still basically in the first generation of this technology. None of them are *perfect* but they might well be considered perfect considering what they cost and in Panasonic's case (GH1) - how flexible they are with regards to lenses. Yeah they can't do *everything* but what they can do is awesome.

You are aware that the RED One has been shooting it's version of RAW onto Compact Flash for 3+ years now? And I am quite sure that Compact Flash cards have gotten quite a bit faster than they were 3+ years ago.
