Rumor: Sony A7s will have 4K video

I'm a bit worried that it appears bigger and to the right of the A7r on this chart:
Well, on that chart it's also almost bigger than the FS700. Think it's just bigger to highlight it as it's the new baby.

Really interested in that new 28-135 power zoom too! (More so than the 7S)

Wow, I'm bummed by the 8-bit limit (obviously) but the clarity they get from having zero pixel binning is superb. And the video DR looks to be totally on another level compared to any other DSLR or mirrorless stills camera we've seen to date. It really does look like the highest image quality we've seen out of a stills camera to date.

And those high ISO stills are ridiculous! The ISO12800 shots look like ISO800 on my D300!

Okay I'm calling it. I think I've found my baby Alexa. Summer release is gonna be pushing it for me, I'm planning to start shooting the film at the end of August. I'm thinking I'll shoot everything S35 crop so I can open up my glass and keep the ISO down to preserve DR and record externally to prores4444 or uncompressed. Rolling shutter should be ok, the A7r beat the MKIII in the http://www.cinema5d.com/?p=22118 shootout

My conclusion right now.

GH4 +yag box wins

Mini hdmi sucks

420 sux

S

They do suck but the extra 1-2 stops of dynamic range is worth a bit of pain. I really still don't give a damn about 4k, I'm quite content with high res aliasing free 2k.

You're all so far behind, it's 10am Monday here.

A7s this, GH4 that - it should be embarrassing to all these massive companies that my BMPCC does 10-bit ProRes internally for $999...

It's amazing to me that 2 years ago, everyone said all these were "just stills cameras" and now the companies are putting better video performing sensors in them than they put in their video cameras. Will any company put 2 and 2 together and produce a true video camera body with a great sensor in it for $5,000?

The C100 is the closest thing right now. Followed by the AF100 and FS100. Every other camera is some hybrid/stills cam or box with a nice sensor.

...1dc is the best.

Really? I can't stand the 1DC at all. The rolling-shutter when in 4K is ridiculous. And the files sizes of the MJPEG, considering it is only 8-bit, are simply too large to justify the image it gives - which I've found doesn't grade very well. Anyway, to each his own :)

And only 8bit 4K with Atomos ...

"On the A7S this will be an 8bit output to a 10bit ProRes file."
