Rumor: Sony A7s will have 4K video

Sounds like it's what the D4s should have been.

Even if it's $6000 with an OdysseyQ as long as rolling shutter isn't bad it could be a winner. I have my MKIII hooked up to an AC7 on set so swapping it for an OdysseyQ doesn't make my rig any bulkier. Canon would have to make the C200 pretty amazing. Surely the 7D MKII will have 4k too.

1. If it's not capable of 4K internally, how was this video captured?

2. First time I've been sold on serious lowlight capabilities. That dojo material was impressive, even on YouTube.

3. Great first test footage from Sony. Simple, super detailed, and a great show of DR.

They should clarify things asap.

Its a low light monster thats for sure. What the 5Dmk3 should have been.

Yes, it is kicking the snot out of the 5D h.264. 5D RAW can hold its own but between this, the GH4 and the AX-100 who knew 4k was going to be a value proposition? The footage is twice as good and half the price! :)

Says 10-bit 422 in the Fstop Academy review.

Waiting for that second 4K upload. Lets GOOOO

I thought that test footage blew away all of Panasonic's promo videos for the GH4.
The lack of internal 4K is a shame, but then again, look at where we were a year ago.

Yes, just that single video illustrates most of what I need to know, especially considering it's YouTube compressed.

Thanks for info on 4K recording.

But sony says the signal is 8-bit. You can record that with a 10-bit recorder, but...

"3840 × 2160(30p/24p) / 1920 × 1080(60p/24p) / 1920 × 1080(60i),YCbCr 4:2:2 8bit/ RGB 8bit"

As long as this camera can record internally without shutting off the monitor spitting 4K out it might be something to look at. This way your proxies are in camera. Now for Atomos to release a 4K HDMI recorder.
