GH3 Rumor of 4K Blackmagic Cine Camera with Electronic Micro 4/3 Mount

The 43rumors.com website has posted a "rumor" of a new Blackmagic 4K Cine camera with active electronic Micro 4/3 lens mount.

The 43rumors.com website has a pretty good track record for these things, so this could become a very big deal if it comes true.

Hopefully it will be a "full" Micro 4/3 sensor camera, so there won't be any additional crop factor compared to a GH3 camera.

Fingers crossed on this one.

I think there is a bit of misinformation and confusion going on here. The up and coming Blackmagic 4K camera isn't using an MFT sensor, rather, it has a Super35mm sensor that uses an active Canon EF mount, not an active MFT mount.

They may be re-releasing the 2.5K MFT camera with an active-MFT mount, as opposed to the current 2.5K MFT which utilises a passive-mount.

Agreed with Simon, making the 4K with active m43 makes no sense. They are far more likely to be re-issuing the original 2.5k camera with the active mount. M43 lenses wouldn't cover the sensor of the 4K camera.

This is the first I've heard of this, but if it's a 4/3 4K MFT/EF camera, with the same 13 stops (and an OLPF xP) this would be incredible.

The little Pocket Camera shows how fast BMD advances in the realm of image quality, color especially. People thought that it would be terrible in lowlight, but it's quite insane how great it is with noise, and of course the overall range.

Applying this ti the S35 4K, and if there's an M4/3 4K (This would be my preference), yes please.

I took it to mean a NEW 4K camera with a NEW m4/3 sensor, NOT their 4K Cine camera with the S35 sensor and EF mount.
That would be different; if it was truly a 4k m43 sensor (with for the LOVE OF ******* CAN IT PLEASE HAVE A PROPER OLPF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) then yes, I'd be extremely interested!

Amen! Love the whole notion of BMCC cameras but the lack of an OLPF is a show stopper for me, for any model, all the other peccadilloes about DSLR style shooting not withstanding.

Using the translation in chrome, I don't see anything mentioning a 4k m43 camera:

In this Blackmagic Video Update stuck a couple of statements that could possibly be for some readers of interest: We are not sure if we understand correctly Richard Lim but it seems to us that he says they have 70-80 pocket cameras have sent in Asia. Whether it is day or representing the complete previous Poduktionsausbeute is unclear. In Subtönen also sounds that they be able to deliver a greater amount of HOPE soon. By implication, therefore, the mass production seems to be no means started. early symptomatic of Black Magic: Richard Lim speaks very clearly that even the 2.5 K model could get an active MFT mount. Such announcements are likely to unsettle current MFT-2, 5K buyers or prospective buyers throw back to a "wait loop". And on top Lim assured that the IBC (ie, in less than a month) also be available news again. Better you can hardly hold its own customers from a purchase. For this purpose, it fits quite well that 4K is supposedly in the final testing phase, and they hope to see the 4K camera still at the end of this month. (Hint: That would be fewer than 120 hours). But "at least" September. However, this is only an estimate, if anything goes wrong. Now quickly open the curtain and all questions.

A Blackmagic 4K m4/3 camera would rock my world. As long as it costs $4000 or less, I'm in. Also, I hope it can shoot to 4K ProRes.

A M4/3 active mount for an s35 sensor? Why? I can see a passive m43 mount so you can have options through adapters. But the Lumix pancake 20mm 1.7 on an s35 simply does not work.
