C100: RUM video work

Here's my 1st professional project with the C100. I tried to capture the atmosphere of the rum and the country of Martinique, a french Carribean Island. Filmed mostly in WideDR with these objectives: Samyang 35 & 85, Zeiss 50 Makro, Tokina 11-16.

I love this camera! Only missing for me a better photo mode, and 50p of course!

Awesome.
How much did you tweak in grading? The colors are really saturated, which works good for this "tropical" location.
BTW I saw you're the guy who shot Incubation, loved it back then!

Très bien!

Beautiful colors, very nicely edited!

How did you do the slo mo at 1:40?

Most importantly- how is the rum?

Merci!

The slow-mo is made with After-Effect time-wrap on a 25p GH2 videos (few machines shots were filmed with the GH2)

This Rum is excellent, one of the best in the Island :)

How much did you tweak in grading

About +20/ +25 in saturation with colorista2, adding color and curves settings. Yes I 've chosen to push up saturation to create this caribean sunny-color-contrast mood.

Here's an another video (less saturated), for an another rum:

Very nice! I have three non-technical questions:

• How many shoot days for each video not including the travel days?

• Does the client give you a script or "must have" shot list? Or do they leave it up to you entirely as to what should be captured?

• How long did you have to wait for the hummingbird to appear? Did you add something to the plant to attract it? Or were you in a hummingbird aviary?

And a technical questions:

• Which jib/slider did you travel with?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your messages! And sorry for the late answer, I just saw your post.

• How many shoot days for each video not including the travel days?

I don't know because I use a lot of old rush I made for personal work. But probably 5 days of shooting per film + 10 days of editing for each.

• Does the client give you a script or "must have" shot list? Or do they leave it up to you entirely as to what should be captured?
Thanks!

The client gave me the global ideas, what they wanted. I wrote a synopsys to validate the way I wanted to go, describing the "story" and the aesthetic directions.

• How long did you have to wait for the hummingbird to appear? Did you add something to the plant to attract it? Or were you in a hummingbird aviary?

I made a lot of shots in a parc. I probably waited for it for 2 hours, noting to attract it.

• Which jib/slider did you travel with?

I use a simple manfroto tripod 055xprob + fluid head 501HDV + slider GLIDETRACK HD.

I am impressed by the picture quality of the codec, I made some captures from C100 rushs (+color correction): http://www.flickr.com/photos/5mars/sets/72157642202207244
