GH3 Ru-Roh... GH3 Intervalometer problem identified

There's an article on timelapse.org showing a pretty serious problem with the GH3's intervalometer. Apparently it can't keep accurate time. The interval between each exposure is different. I have no clue as to how they screwed this one up, and it's pretty disappointing because the built in intervalometer is one of the reasons I got the GH3. I was looking forward to using it to try some time lapse.

Anyway, here's the article. http://timelapse.org/2013/02/panasonic-gh3-for-timelapse-problems/

If Panasonic is watching, please add this to your list of things that need a firmware fix

I noticed some odd firings of the shutter when I was doing a timelapse the other night. I wasn't timing but they all seemed even except for a quick shutter every so many. The end product looked fine so I didn't pay too much attention to it.

I wonder if it being drop frame over non drop has anything to do with it? Still it sucks to have such an easy bug to fix in there on shipping cameras. I am really hoping for a firmware update but in the end I doubt we will see anything from Panasonic for a while. A real shame. Still love the camera and am keeping it but there are so many little senseless things that are stopping a good camera from being great.

DF vs NDF wouldn't have anything to do with this I think, since we're talking stills, not video. Even in the video documenting the problem, skipping the increment 2 frames per minute would only effect the TC readout on a couple of the shutter releases, much more than the error in intervals.

But yeah, it does kind of suck that they would release the camera with such a BIG mistake. I mean, this has got to be one of the easiest things to get right, yet they screwed it up. So that makes you wonder what else they might have done in programming this camera. For example, they can't apparently do focus peaking because of limits to the Venus Engine processor. But then you have to wonder if the problem is that they are using the processor inefficiently.
