"RPDM" by Two Bears One Cup

Nice fllm guys. I think this is the most fully realized story you've done yet, Mark. You did a great job using speed changes to tell the story and maintain the pacing. I was glad to see you use the method you did for his drug delivery...worked perfectly with the feel of the story for me.

Oh, yeah, the use of I Put A Spell On You was inspired. I've got several versions of the song and that sounded like Alan Price's version.

It's a band by the name of CA Quintet. They were pretty popular in the late '60s early '70s.

I know Doug Reynolds, the bass player in that band. Conveniently, they own the rights to their music and let us use it for free.

I'll have to try to find it...

EDIT: found it on iTunes, it's now in my queue...

Great makeup effects, although the blood splatter isn't consistent with the direction of the shotgun blast. I liked the pacing of this film so much. The speed up, slow down ride and how it connected with the effects of R.P. Great film!

As everyone else has said, the speed ramping effects were very well done, and really brough the effects of R.P. home to the viewer. Very smooth transitions as well.

Your sound design was also top notch and really added to the effect and tone of the film.

Nice job!

Mark, you put the GRRRR in Gritty! After watching your movies I always feel like I need a shower! LOL. I mean that as a compliment. Your films are so intense, visceral and ballsy! You really make great Film Noir. Not a parody of what was daring and original in the 40s and 50s, but daring and original today. True Film Noir. Great work! One of my favourites.

this was well done man. good job. looked great too. beginning, middle and an end. believeable characters, not a second wasted. boom.

Hmm... nice job. I hope I get to meet you one day Mark... and I hope when that day comes... that you're as cool as you seem... because you seem pretty cool man.

I was looking for this film... and I was sure it would surface... and well... there it is.

Very nice.

I would give this 10 stars but I doubt whether or not it was made for timefest as I do many films I've seen so far, but it is definitely one of the best shorts I have seen on DVXuser and ever, so mannnnnn congrats, you got serious talent my friend.

Yeah, he is as cool as he seems... and I'm finicky with who I think is cool.

This is just an awesome film! I found myself watching it again & again (4 times) and loving it more each time. There's nothing I can mention that hasn't been brought up already.

WOW...you sir, are a true talent. Thank YOU!

what the f*ck are you talking about, STYLZ? that's pretty presumptuous on your part (and a lot of p-words on my part). you're taking points away because you suspect the filmmakers cheated? you're going to have to back that sh*t up with some motherf*cking evidence.

*sorry for all the swearing, i've been drinking.

What ballz.

Listen. Mark's a friend of mine who's been talking about making this film for this fest since the theme was announced. I've been around to personally experience it.

But if you have more than one brain cell you don't have to be know him personally to know that. It's documented in this thread. Unless you think people were just pretending to talk about flying back and forth to work with each other and wrapping shooting etc.

I know for a fact it was made for this fest and furthermore, Mark and Joe (Conrad) are regular fest participant either as non competition or as proper entrants. A fair percentage of ALL the films Mark has made, ever, have been for User fests.

I can't imagine what would motivate such a baseless back handed comment from you??????? It clearly fits the theme! So come on man. Explain yourself.

People work too hard on these things for hit and run stupid comments like that.

I've always liked you Zak. :)

Maybe he's just not convinced that the theme comes through strongly enough in Mark's movie??
i.e. He thinks that Mark had this in the back of his head for a while and just adjusted it to fit the theme.
Maybe that's what he meant?

Still wrong in my opinion but better than what everyone else is assuming.

He should really explain himself. That's a harsh statement to make and dash.

As far as I'm concerned R.P.D.M. nails the theme better than most.

That was awesome. :D

This entry was in no way pre-conceived or produced for anything but Timefest in the time frame for such. This is the third script idea Mark had for this contest and we decided on this one to produce. I watched Mark hammer out the script, then he flew here and we made this movie together.

Maybe I should be flattered that you think it's so good we had to have it sitting on a shelf somewhere and find the right time to release it.

Wow, thanks for all the support guys, this place is incredible.

Rock on.:dankk2::beer::beer:
