Rowing (SGpro)

EDIT: Posted standard .avi. Link below

I haven't seen any Rowing (Crew) footage on here, so I'll share some.

I FINALLY found a store that had the lens that I wanted. This is my 1st day of shooting with it. I got a Nikon 50mm F/1.4, and it was set on 1.4 for the whole day. I know that a 50mm is NOT for sport shooting, but for film, and I knew that.

With the picture upside down, it is kind of disorientating, but I kept both eyes open and pointed the camera in the general direction. Some shots look a little blurry because I had it zoomed in at Z81 when the boats where farther away, and you can watch it get blurry to sharp as I zoom out at 1:02-1:04. It didn't look blurry on the LCD, but I guess I was wrong.

I went for the viberant colors look with the CC, and some shots came out very well.

You need Divx for video and AC-3 codec for audio.

btw, our team got 2nd in Midwest, and is going to the Nationals for the Men's Lightweight 8. (I'm in it, which is why I only got to film the 4's.)

You are brave for taking your camera out into the water. I am afraid to even bring it on a real boat. It looked good.

96 views with 2 downloads... ok... Should I upload the .avi standalone? The .RAR only saves 1.5 meg.

Added .avi link. Sorry for the waste of time. :(

PS. I'm really angry on how blurry some of those images came out. The camera is suppost to be on Z71, and I had it on Z81 for that little extra zoom. Bad idea...

I can zoom to 84 i think and still have a crisp image. Or at least crisp enough where I can't tell it might be not crisp...

84z and 33macro focus works for me.

Judging by the oar blades, that's probably the junior olympic team? Those guys were hanging at the catch like fiends :D

Just kidding.......it pains my body to even look at that sport anymore. That's what consumed my high school and college 'free time'. Anytime I hear the word ergonomic, I start shaking at the 'erg' part.

Good see some rowing footage here though. Other than some of the focus issues, that looked really good. Have you thought about a stedicam? Might help even things out in the launch a bit. A buddy of mine has the glidecam 4 something and I've been pretty impressed with what he can do with it.

I can't even imagine how heavy that would make the camera! It already weighes 15 pounds, and a steadycam is out of the question, $5,000 is a little steap....

Oh, btw, we did have someone from our school get on the national team and rowed for the USA and went to Bejing, China. They rowed on the same course where the Olympics we be. I think they placed 4th, but don't qoute me on that. The kid's a beast... He broke our school record for the "Hour of Power" an hour on the erg. His split avarage for an hour is better than my 2000k.... lol.

No 5k is nuts. This is all I'm talking about.

It takes some practice and yes it's heavy and annoying but you're a rower....you can handle it. :D

There's definitely some technique to be learned but I've seen some amazing shots with one of these....like full sprinting behind a bike rider ending up looking smooth. Dealing with windchop while riding in a launch is right up this thing's alley.
