Title: RONALD
A film by Michael Anthony Horrigan

UPDATE: WE TOOK FIRST PLACE IN THE FEST! :2vrolijk_08:
NEW UPDATE: We also won the 'Audience Choice' award!! :2vrolijk_08:

Here it is. RONALD

I decided to join in on a very last minute Festival here in town over the weekend. It was one of those... "Here's the objects/phrases that you must put in your film. Now go!! Just be back with the finished DVD by Sunday." Type of deals.

I stayed up very late writing the script while an actress friend of mine rounded up a few more actors. I shot all day with zero crew and edited all night. Handed it in the next day. Sound design went very well considering.

I used trees, pipes, and actors that were not in the shot to hold the boom. It was all run and gun and surprisingly fun. Hey... that rhymes!

It turned out way better than what I thought and the experience of doing one of these Festivals was great! Really puts you to the test.

Here are some grabs though.

Meet Ronald....

Gave my 5 year old daughter a cameo and she did very well.

I'll be posting actor information and maybe a few more grabs leading up to the release. Feel free to ask any questions that strike you.

If you've never done one of these weekend festivals you don't know what you're missing.

Cheers,

Yeah, Mike! That chic in the black dress looks familiar. Wasn't she in a couple of your films? That makeup looks really good - scary.

looks hilarious
Thanks! We had a lot of laughs.

Thanks, man. It's actually a very cool latex prosthetic which is extremely lifelike, or Zombielike. :)

Yah, that's Jenn. Haven't used her for a couple of films. She does really well in this one. Suits the part to a T.

Thanks. It was definitely run and gun.

Trying to film in parks without freaking out little kids was the toughest part. Luckily, we went to shoot the park scene at lunch and it was vacant.

You mean you HAVE used her? Haha, she was in your Love fest entry? And Timefest?

Just remember, it was a last minute entry into a 48 hour Fest and I had no crew. :)

Just me and four actors. I wrote it after the announcement and shot it the next morning, edited the rest of the day/night. Some of the lines of dialogue were required, as were a few props. 5 in all.

I would also like to thank Justin www.edgen.com for lending me some of his music.

Hope you like it.

I thought it was pretty funny. The technical stuff was good too.

I'd be very interested to see the rules you had to follow.

Thanks for posting this!

Thanks, guys.

The Fest doesn't officially air them until September. I figured I would give DVXuser a first peek.

It's not like you guys will be down here to watch them. :)

The lines about the apples, armour and Mona Lisa were all required. Not word for word but close. The Mona Lisa line was mine, just needed to be an art reference. The other two requirements were the train (toy in this case) and a coffee.

Never did a challenge like this before. It was fun.

Nice!

A dark comedy, haha.

What was with the interlace look when the zombie runs out of the bathroom?

Nice shots, and clear audio.

The zombie did a good job haha.

Hey, I really liked this! Lots of good comedic bits. I really liked the cauliflower bit, I laughed out loud.

I'm very impressed that you could do this all over one weekend. Given that, the film is amazing!

Nice work Mike!

Thanks, guys. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yah, I wrote the script the night that they announced it and I shot in the next day. Editing went very well after that and the captured audio was surprisingly fairly clean. A bit rough in spots though.

Bottom line, we had fun. :)

Obviously not as polished as some of my previous work that I actually put time into but not bad either. Been a while since I've tried a comedy.

Thanks for watching.
