Pain In The Ass 2.0
THE SHORT FILM THAT STARTED IT ALL: (ALL NEW FESTIVAL CUT!)

DETAILS ON THE FEATURE:

Welp. Here it is. I'll try to update this as much as I can, but it's pretty much Matt and I's life right now. At the least, it accounts for about 7 hours of phone conversation a week.

Here's what we know:

• We will shoot on RED.
• We will begin principle photography sometime this year.
• The first location is Daniel's workshop, which we are building now from scratch.
• I have no idea when we will finish.
• The film will be financed by Matt and I with hopefully small fundraisers along the way.
• 'To make money/get distribution' is not the primary goal of this film.

Here's one more for luck. It's definitely one of the best dvxfest shorts and definitely deserves a feature. Get on it!

Break a leg Ben!

great! go for it!

Good luck Ben. Look forward to watching it. Ill be sticking around to do so.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. Right now, we're a 2 man wolfpack (well, Tim's back too, so maybe 3) but I plan on judiciously using the knowledge and advice of DVXusers along the way.

here's a quick snippet: Bought our first pieces of set design last week. Due to the dumb snowstorm passing through the Carolinas, probably wont be able to pick them up for a couple days, but I bought 46 old computer towers for the bargain price of $175. These will be dismantled, routed, dremel-tooled, painted, etc. to be incorporated into the set. We plant to spend about 3x the budget of the ENTIRE short on just the set design for one location. Talking to a concept artist as well to fuel/improve Matt and I's ideas for mise-en-scene.

my first piece of concept art. Might not be what the thing actually ends up looking like, but something I can hand off to a REAL concept artist for inspiration.

Good luck, Ben! I don't think I saw any of the footage from the comedy, but I've seen what you can do with drama and I definitely think you made the right decision for your first feature.

welp, yesterdays filmmaking adventure turned from 'paint ceiling' into 'scrape all the popcorn off the ceiling, then prime'

today's filmmaking adventure consisted of writing a scene in a notebook at Meineke while waiting for my brakes to get changed and then painting an entire room black (including ceiling). This, as you can imagine, is highly claustrophobic.

Great stuff man, kind of reminded me of Inception a little bit though especially since Leonardo DiCaprio's character is seeing his dead wife in his dreams.

Acting and directing were very good. I liked the score too. Best of luck to you on your project.
