Love the bokeh! These are frame exports from Premiere Pro CS6 no grading. I like what I see so far.

Just finished editing the promo. I also used the Canon 24-105. All handheld with the C300. The only shot I didn't shoot was the talent in his office. That was shot by news with an HPX370. I Don't like that one but no time to reshot it. Moving fast. It's sweeps!

Looks great Erik. It that your C300 or the stations? SInce the C300 shipped I always thought it was the camera for you.

a little off topic here, which lav mic was recorded in the video ? I hate the voice from sennheiser G3 kit its kinda "smothered", I need a clearer sound

The SOT sounds like crap and I have to get the raw video. I wanted to shoot the talent myself but that didn't happen. I had a super tight deadline today so no looking back. News promotion is a hungry beast that has to be feed and we have this less than perfect way of getting footage from news into our promo world. I'll leave it at that. What your hearing is an open shotgun mic and a Lectrosonics wireless mixed together. Grrrr! Lets just look at that bokeh! Ahhhhh.

UPDATE.
I couldn't take the SOT mixed audio so this morning I tracked down the RAW P2 and reedited the sound bite. Much better. Now have to resend it to the hub.

The stations camera. They decided to buy a camera and I felt the C300 was the best option. I will miss renting because I had the chance to play with whatever camera I decided to use but I like the C300 a lot so its a win!

I cant help myself and I'm buying bits and pieces like lenses and such that I want to try. The passion still lives!

I'm picking one up when I'm in NYC late March.

I wrote Rokinon if they wouldn't consider rehousing their Cine lenses so that they'd end up looking similar to Canon's cine line. Same outer diameter for all and that nice fat cp.2, Canon Cine look.

They could sell them for $650-700 and put a set together in a nice case. I think that would FLY off the shelves.

They said that they could probably do it, but that they weren't looking into it for the time being. We need to organize and add some pressure. =)

Nice shots Eric. Ive been using it for around a month. I doubt highly that price v performance can be beaten. Such a decent little lens. The 35mm is a winner as well.

At that price point, the images you've linked alone have convinced me to buy the lens. And to think I was going to bite the bullet on a Canon's 85mm F1.2 -- ha!

AndreeOnline, I found at least two retailers who beat you to it:

I do not remember the retailers' names, but the idea is nevertheless great!

I had to try 7 copies of the 24/1.4 to get an amazing (REALLY amazing) one but with 85/1.4 it is mostly a no-brainer. The CA is a ***** wide open though - magenta and green fringing everywhere. Still, well controled for this price range. The best thing about these lenses is - they got the attention of the pros as well.

The 35mm is a winner as well.

I hear good things about this one too.

"Unfortunately" I think the new Sigma 35 1.4 outperforms it with some margin and I don't want to pick up both. The Sigma will of course be great on my mk3 as well...

Would be interested in seeing a test between the Sigma and the Rokinon.

Haha, not bad! Nice product shot.

But by the looks of it, these are standard Rokinon cine lenses, right?

Now imagine that you take at least the outermost barrel with the focus ring and exchange that with a nice tapered metal piece (cone) so that you get that fat cine look. They would also aim to place the focus gears in the same position on all lenses measured from the mount so that follow focus and such devices could remain in place when you change your lens. Mark the barrel with nice indented text: '14', '24', '35', '85'.... =)

The lenses are actually pretty decent already, but I think they could have a killer product with minimal hit to production costs going all out on the cine versions.

I have the 24, 35 and the 85 Samyang Cines, very interested in the rumoured 50mm and possibly the 14. Can anyone point me towards a case for these lenses?

XSVpro, you will do great with a Pelican 1510... carry-on approved.

AndreeOnline, I have no idea why every cine Samyang/Rokinon lens has gears in a different place. The FIRST thing they should do is to standardize front diameters and equalize the mount-to-gear distance on all of them. Regarding cosmetics, if there is no focus throw the large diameter and barrel markings with focal lenghts really have no sense but to look good. Something that LensCircle is doing with the ZE/ZF.2's...

I want the 50mm and hopefully it will be T1.5.

A pelican case with the custom Velcro divider set will work just fine.

Phone Snoops vs Lens Sluts... and the Lens Sluts win by a stop!!!

Great stuff, Erik! What aperture did you use on each lens?

Very nice Erik. They are so inexpensive for what they offer that I would probably pickup a set if I wasn't saving up to have my Cooke Series II/III set rehoused.
