GH4 Rokinon 12mm footage.

Looks great. I've had the 16mm F2.0 and it is a great lens. I expect the 12mm to perform similar.

Did anyone test this lens with a Speed Booster? Does it work (without vignetting that is?) That would make it a stellar 8.5mm F1.4!

footage looks great and the ability to keep a wide in focus was evident.

(plus the guy's bubbles were wonderful!)

thumbs up.

be well.

About to pull the trigger on one of these. Not sure if I want the photo or cine version yet. Photo version is a heck of a lot cheaper today. I also don't always want to use a follow focus so I'm not 100% sure if I really need the cine version. It seems like it is more about convenience than anything else.

I mostly use electronic m43 lenses so deciding to get a Rokinon has been a tough decision. I have some Canon FD and older Nikon lenses and while I like what they can do I rarely use them because of how different they look compared to my m43 lenses. I'm hoping the Rokinon being a newer lens will be a closer match. I tend to shoot with my sharpness turned down so I think that should help match the details a bit better.

Well I just bought the Rokinon 12mm t2.2 m43 lens. Amazon just had an amazing deal for $289.00. Finally an option cheaper than the photo version. Very short timed daily deal and they sold out in 20 minutes. This will be my first cine lens so it will be an interesting new toy. I have used plenty of older adapted lenses with follow focus rings attached and it will be nice to see how much better a lens with the focus gear built in works.

Wow lucky you! I wanted the cine version as well, anyway let me know what you think of the lens.
Sometimes it gives me amazing results. My favorite shot ever is this and its with the 12mm Rok:

Received my Rokinon 12mm t2.2 lens on Friday. So far I love the look but it is a bit softer than my other native m43 lenses. Even stopped down to the sweet spot of the lens at f5.6 it is still softer than my Panasonic 25mm f1.4.

Now I know Panasonic adds a certain level of enhancement to their lenses. Since I tend to shoot with the electronic lenses at a sharpness of -5 I wonder if the rokinon should be bumped up a bit more to compensate for this lack of in camera enhancement. I tried a few shots with the Rokinon at 0 sharpness and they looked a lot more detailed. Do the others with the Rokinon find this to be true and are you compensating for the sharpness setting when you switch lenses?

Yes, its softer than Panny 25 f1,4, but so are many other lenses. That Leica is one sharp lens even wide open.
I always use sharpness at 0 so I don´t change that when I switch between lenses. When I don´t find the image sharp I just increase the F stops if there is enough light. Usually to F4.

Those are a heck of a lot closer then I expected.

I do know 12mm is a pretty difficult lens to make and all of them tend to be softer lenses. Overall I am pretty happy with my Rokinon. Yes it is softer then some of my other lenses but I am not as worried about it. My biggest fear was that it would be soft and low contrast like my Canon FD lenses but that is not the case at all. My Rokinon 12mm t2.2 is a bit softer but it now looks like the Olympus wouldn't be all that much sharper at all. Thanks for posting this video. It makes me feel very confidant with my purchase. In fact it is one of my new favorite lenses.
