Rode Videomic and A1

Hi everyone - I'm new to the forums and new to the XH A1. Thanks for all of the great knowledge I've gained so far from reading many of your posts. I have a Rode VideoMic that works fine with the A1, but because the hot shoe "foot" is dead center on the Rode, it obscures the zoom and record controls on the top handle which I would like to use from time to time. Anyone have any quick and dirty solutions for this? The only thing I could find was a Rycote hot shoe extension bar, which might allow me to move the mic forward a bit.

I'm not sure how sturdy that thing looks though. I would appreciate any other ideas!

Wow... Nothing like making a first impression on the forums by being an idiot. After posting, I started playing around with the Rode again and realized that I could unscrew the foot with a screwdriver and relocate it to the front of the shock mount. I then disconnected the mic from the shock mount and reversed it, effectively placing the foot at the back of the mic assembly. Problem solved. Thank you!

No problem.

You actually posted something useful for the next guy with this problem right out the gate!

Oh yeah...

Post some pics too so others can do the same if necessary.
