C300: Rode Video Mic - How to mount?

If I wanted the handle and LCD attached, how could I mount something like a Rode Video Mic onto my C300? Is that even possible? Maybe it could go onto the back handle hot shoe mount and I could drop the LCD down so it's not in the way of the mic? Seems like a bad way to do it, even if it's just for reference audio. I've talked to Brian C. Weed about the fact that the vertical hot shoe mount on the C300 would be perfect if someone created a 90 degree hoe shoe mount with another hot shoe attachment...so you could turn a vertical hotshoe into a horizontal one. I don't think something like that is out there though.

Any ideas?

I do own a shotgun mic, but I would need to buy a short XLR cable (super short) in time for saturday when I have a small thing to shoot for a friend.

c300 top handle has 2 horizontal and 1 vertical shoe mounts. we are interested in 2 horizontals ..... 1 located on front side and 1 on rear side. so if u ll put monitor unit on rear u ll have front one empty.... i see no problems, + the way u described it also will work.

but also consider that.... my self i am not a fan of edelkrone, in fact i hated modula 7 from the beginning and lucky me was able to resell with in 2 months of the purchase (they did not have it in stock and the guy just had to buy it from me), BUT a big BUT - they have at least 2 products that i think is a MUST HAVE!!!!

1. Accessory Connector - its just exactly what u ve been asking for...... perfect in any way, i own 2 , i sold the rig, but left that part to my self!

look at that image - the way the mic is attached:

2. Monitor/EVF Holder - another perfect tool! - a must have, it really works!

Based on the photos I've seen...the C300's handle only has 1 vertical and one 1 horizontal not two. Only the top of the camera has another horizontal.

I am mounting the LCD on the handle close to me. At the far end in the vertical, I am mounting a pearstone microphone holder and placing my Sennheiser MKH 416. However, the pearstone holder doesn't angle 90 degree, so the microphone is slightly angled downwards.

Seems I can't find a solution to this still. Anybody have any ideas? Only workable thing I can see is getting the EVF Holder from Edelkrone, not using the arm attached to it at all, and use the mount, then buy their right angle accessory mount. BUT, that's spending more then $200 just to get a horizontal mount on the front of my C300. A very expensive solution to a very simple problem.

Doesn't anyone else make an accessory that can solve this issue??

This might work but not cheap solution.
Would a 15mm rail rod fit inside the shotgun mount? If it doesn't add a few large O-rings to get it to the right size then get a cold shoe rail clamp and attach the Rode to it and use the C300 shotgun mount.

Something like this.

C300 microphone mount.jpgFrom this screen grab you can see the way I have attached the microphone to the C300. I have used a Pearstone microphone holder. Though it is not parallel to the lens, it works.

You could possible use something like this:

Easy to manufacture something with that accessory plus a small 'L' shaped bracket, a drill and 2 extra screws though. In that accessory you can see that the middle mount is attached to the rail with two screws. If you unscrew that and then drill 2 holes into an L bracket, attach that bracket to the mount, and then attach the rail to the bracket you would have 2 horizontal hotshoe mounts on the front of the handle (handy for lights and video mic etc).

I'm bumping this...have a job coming up beginning of May that would greatly benefit from a fix for this...any other ideas out there?

I've used Rode VM, on C100, on a hot shue mount, attached to a mini jack audio in the camera body, worked pretty good.
