Low budget rock video for friends band shot on Canon 550D with Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 and Olympus 50mm 1.8.

All criticism welcome.

Nice work, certainly a lot better than most of the no budget/student music video's around.

I would've like to see a lot more close ups of faces during the poker scene - Nobody will really pay attention to what cards are being played to know what is going on in the game, but with facial reactions people will understand immediately.

yeah. agreed. the poker scene was a massive letdown as we shot it months after shooting the performance as it was impossible to get everyone available on the same night. I also got screwed at the location as we only had about 2 hours to get everything setup, shot and packed away in a pub, when i was promised much more time. It was all very rushed. Add to the fact that everyone in that scene had actually just come back from the pub and were all quite drunk therefore lacked concentration. It was a bit of a nightmare situation i was pulling my hair out. It was the frontman's fault, he failed to organise any of it properly and left me picking up the pieces. Lesson learned though - don't let idiot rock-band frontman organise vid shoot and get drunk, idiot!

Thanks for watching

Every video has a "real" story behind it, but that's not the problem here. I also agree that the showing of the cards really didn't make sense as No one is really going to be paying attention to what is happening or why. I would have cut that whole scene shorter and got straight to the girls in the tub scene, which looked really good. Finally if you have equipment, actors, lenses etc. It honestly makes no sense for you to say you had ZERO budget, as you have a lot of supporting equipment to make your projects shine....

I liked the color grade, camera movement ( AWESOME!!) and the use of different lenses for a different aspect from scene to scene. Overall solid project that looked great, didn't understand the story though, but the girls in the tub brought it back to universal language.....

I really really love the look the Tokina 11-16mm does, truly an amazing lens.

Good Job

thanks vision_filmz for your comments. The Tokina 11-16mm really is a good investment. All i was trying todo really with the strip-poker scene is show the girls losing hence why they end up stripping and ultimately why they end up in the bathtub. Jut wanted a bit of a story to add some tension before the bathtub without making it all too generic. I suppose i should have put 'low budget' in the title as it was all equipment i owned and i didn't get paid much. Cheers.

Giant conversation about what constitutes "no budget" and "low budget" elsewhere on the boards, but I won't harp on it - I think you named it accurately if you didn't pay for any of the locations, actors, etc. I expected to turn it off after the first 30 seconds, but I watched all the way through and I'm glad I did! It was excellent - like said above, great camera movement, great cuts and of course gorgeous girls in a tub!

Beautiful set too - added a lot of production value. I'd love to see what you can do with a real budget. Super impressed.
