Hey guys, currently filming a feature length indie film using two HVX200a's. Check out the trailer we just cut tonight. We should be done filming in two weeks, with our highest goal being sundance, and second goal being a slamdance premiere. I hope you like it!

Picking the festivals that are going to select you for screening is either ballsy or just naive. Unless you make a grainy black and white coming-of-age lesbian drama you have no guarantees of such things.

Looks interesting.

Not sure if you posted here looking for critiques or followers, but I'll do both.

I would eliminate the Inception music. Why? Three reasons:
1.) It's copyrighted, and unless you paid for the rights to use it, you can't.
2.) I'm not sure if your movie is a comedy or a drama, but I can tell you that the music makes it feel much more dramatic than it really looks.
3.) Every time I hear that song, I think of Inception (for just cause). Don't build a foundation on what someone else has done.

So my suggestion? Find a composer, or at least some royalty free music to use instead.

Second, that's not a teaser trailer. That's a long trailer. A teaser is one that might not even show footage and is about 20 seconds long. It has a logo and a release date, and maybe a line of dialogue.

Was the trailer cut from full scenes you've shot, or was it shot just to have a trailer?

@ Snazzy Flapper, yea your right, having a distro stratagey from the outset of a project is really naieve, what was I thinking with trying to picture our audience before we actually shot the thing.

@ Hawk, the thing is, we have like 60 percent of the thing shot. SO its cut from a few of the scenes. The inception music is a joke, me and one of the actors saw a bunch of inception trailers on youtube, one for superbad and star wars and stuff and it was hilarious. So we were just goofing around. After we get into some festivals were going to make a real trailer, hence why i called it a teaser. This was just so the cast members could see some of the shots and to get some buzz going, but your right, those critisizsms are all valid.

I said nothing about formulating a cohesive strategy, but saying "Watch for us at the xxx festival" which you haven't even entered yet is just silly and naive. Having a list of festivals you feel your film would be suitable to play it as smart.

okay, your right, that makes sense. I guess my whole idea is that if we dont get into that festival ill be more bummed about not getting in, not the text under my trailer being wrong, but your totally right. Like I said, I will be cutting a REAL trailer, without inception music and all that, once were done shooting. It will be a lot more tight and all that good stuff, this was more or less just to give people a feel for the movie.

oh and yea, it is a comedy, kind of like a dark comedy. I would say its like a cross between american beauty and clerks. Well, not that its as good, but I was going for that feel.
