Rob Zombie's Halloween

I dont think anyone else started a thread on it so here I go.

oh man. I can't wait.. i was blown away by the trailer.... so I'm sure people are in disagreement of a classic remake- bla bla let's discuss away.

As for me, I think Zombie is sincere about his new vision so I respect that. It looks genuinely good... and in a long time too.

i only found this myspace as official website http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=99704870

Zombie is certainly enthusiastic. He started his own studio to put out horror films and comics too I think. While he isn't really a "mainstream" producer, I really sort of love his stuff for it. Of course, the wife won't watch it with me, but that isn't really a problem is it ;)

Halloween is one of my favorite horror films of all time, and I hate the idea of a re-make, but the trailer didn't look bad, and I suppose if anyone could do it justice, a horror purist like Rob Zombie can. Plus Malcolm McDowell is playing Dr. Loomis, which is pretty cool.

the MTV articles states that he wont be using the original Halloween theme due to the nature of the production- that it doesn't match-well, I'm sad about that... but still excited to see what new perspectives are drawn.

Wow, that stinks. Don't get me wrong the trailer looks great, I just thought that he was doing a new Halloween not a remake, major let down for me...

Nice choice on McDowell, although no one can play it as well as Donald Pleasence did (RIP).

Zombie was misquoted by MTV. what he was saying was that the version of the theme he was currently toying with wouldn't make it into the feature, but that the theme would definitely be used.

The trailer looked good, although I'll always love the original. I noticed that he used so many actors from Devils Rejects again...

why why why do we have to have an origin story?

And does this guy actually think he can outdo John Carpenter?

This'll be good for a laugh.

Three things should be CRYSTAL F%$%^ CLEAR by now.

1. 99% of remakes are far inferior. You are not, nor will you ever be, the exception.
2. Origin stories accomplish nothing, they just end up tainting the original. Stop now.
3. You can't successfully remake a John Carpenter movie. The Fog and Assault on Presinct 13 sucked ass, as will Halloween The Thing and Escape from New York. Hmm, is Big Trouble in Little China next? Who will play Lo Pan, Tony Jaa?

Furthermore, gore does not equal scary. Saw is stupid, and it inspired a whole lot of other stupid "horror" movies. Zombie is just going to go the Hostel route and waste peoples money.

But, uh, yeah, this looks like great fun! :zombie_smiley:

Most movies that suck have amazing trailers. Usually testement to the talent of trailer cutters and other people that don't have to spend two years with a project.

I understand that many movies need to be remade so that younger audiences get a chance to experience them, but something like Halloween is iconic. Even young people have heard of Halloween. It's too bad people can't come up with unique story ideas.

100% behind that, the most scared I have ever been in my whole movie watching life was when I was watching the Shining and Jack was going crazy, not cutting into anyone yet but just loosing it, that is scary. Gore just doesnt do anything for me, I worked in a morgue for 2 years and it's just ruined any gag reflex I might of had to it. I thought SAW had a good concept and an original story, it's execution was just a tad bit lacking though (Just for me).

Too be honest it looks amazing. And during GRINDHOUSE, when the trailer was shown, the theatre was in complete shock, everyone whispering about how great it's going to be.

yeah if you go to his composers web site you can listen to the theme. he had done to it. also carpenter is excited to see what zombie can do i mean zombie has talent i didnt like House of ... i need to see it again but i loved devils rejects. he got the feeling of how movies should feel and everything I think hes talented so I cant wait.

I'm more interested in Werewolf Women of the SS! Just watched the original Halloween a few weeks ago, yuck! What a crapper, horrible acting, no interesting buildup of character, not even remotely suspenseful or scary. IMO Black Christmas (The original) was a much better slasher film.

LOL!

Yeah, I'm eager to see what he does with Halloween too. My first negative criticism is that the movie looks way too dirty and grimy, the mask for instance looks more like a Leatherface flesh mask than a basic Halloween costume mask.

Blasphemy. :D

Don't get me wrong, Black Christmas (1974) is a brilliant flick that everyone should see at some point, but Halloween is the slasher flick.
