Because I think people need to hear the message, I've uploaded a 720p version of the ENTIRE movie to my youtube account. Thought I'd post it here for ya'll to tear it to shreads :) This could be the smartest or dumbest move I can make, we'll see. If you feel so inclined to see how we did it, you can purchase a two disc edition DVD at starspictures.org. The DVD includes five commentaries and a two hour making of doc. I hope you enjoy.

Technical info about the movie: 550D with just a kit lens. $2000 budget, half of which went toward the camera and gear, the rest was food and gas for actors. No Crew. ADR for everything using the Blue Yeti mic. Lighting was halogen worklights and a shower curtain.

Thanks for putting it online. I watched it yesterday. I liked it! Checked out your Stars Pictures website as well. That Run trailer looks promising.

Keep up the good work!

Sent out a press release this morning promoting the film as an effort to counter the 2012 hype.

For Immediate Release

STARS Pictures Counters 2012 Hype with Release of FREE Feature Film

November 20 2012, online

Society is abuzz with theories regarding the end of the world. The Mayans predict December 21, 2012, but what if they’re wrong? What if there’s another timeline, a schedule written thousands of years before the Mayans’ and one so detailed it is impossible to misread... This is the discovery of the Leap Crew in the action packed second chapter of this exciting trilogy, “Leap: Rise of the Beast”, shot in and around Spokane, WA.

Buried in the pages of the ancient texts lies the outline of the end. Names, places, times, events all neatly chronicling the final days of our planet. The Leap Crew must now dig deeper to be prepared to face the coming end as the Earth spirals into chaos.

The film is available for free at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZd-J7Ucn-c

About STARS Pictures:
STARS Pictures was founded in 2003 by Director and Speaker, Chris Tempel. We
started out doing short films, weddings and promotional works, then moved to feature
films in 2007 with a low budget B-movie “Wulf”. In December 2009, STARS Pictures
was converted into a film ministry, producing stories most Christians are afraid to touch.

Our mission is to preset Truth in such a way that society, both Christian and secular,
becomes hungry to study it deeper for themselves. We will not be afraid of touching
controversial subjects, if the Lord directs us to do so. We believe that through studying
Truth, one can grow to develop and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Love the fact in ended up between "Point Break" and "Rush Hour". That's so freakin' perfect. LOL. But man that's a great cover. And it stands out too. Did anyone run with the press release by the way? And good work getting "Leap: Revelation" on IMDB while still in pre-production. That's how the big shots do it!

Sorry, I haven't checked back in here for a while. Been crazy busy prepping Leap 3 and figuring out how we're going to pull it off. Glad you guys like the pic-I had to do a double take when I saw it and did another when I saw the two movies next to it.
Getting Leap: Revelation on imdb was really easy this time, so that was cool. We're now at over 1000 views for Rise of the Beast and seem to be getting a larger following that's really looking forward to part 3. Having an audience and knowing this is my final foray into the Leap universe is making me try that much harder to make something really nice.

Man, your movie sitting between those 2 looks like it's really supposed to be there. You can't tell that it's an indie film at all. Looks good. So, I was finally able to watch the entire film and I think you had some really cool elements in the film and a really interesting story. I think there are several things you can improve on moving forward, but to be able to pull all of this off was impressive. I think your lead is a strong actor, but the other actors in the film were not as strong. I thought the locations were good and the cinematography was pretty good as well. I think more establishing shots in certain scenes would help the audience to get a better feel for where the characters are in relation to their environment, but that'll be something to think about for next time. Sound was okay, could've been better as well as the sound effects, but overall I think you have a good concept story here and I think Leap 3 is gonna' be even better. So good luck!

We'd talked about me taking a stab at one of the fight scenes, I still want to do that at some point, I've just been super swamped with trying to Bad To The Jones up and running. Hopefully I'll be able to get to it soon.

Thanks for the feedback. A lot of what you mentioned needs improvement I've heard from others, so I have a pretty clear idea where I can improve. For example, we've got a lot more establishing shots this time, such as this-

I uploaded Rise of the Beast on a bunch of piracy websites and we're totaling about 50,000 between all the platforms :) Some might say it was a dumb idea, but hey, people are seeing the movie and I get emails daily about the next one. It's been a great way to grow our audience.

I know this thread has been dead for a while, but in honor of having over 120,000 views and 2200 subscribers on my channel, I wanted to release the entire two hour documentary about how made Rise of the Beast for just $2000. Previously, this was only available on the DVD. Film Riot just did a show on using a shower curtain to diffuse light, but as you'll see, we were doing it four years ago. I hope this can help some other indie filmmakers :)
