FEATURE: Rise of the Beast-the new feature from STARS Pictures

I think they look good bro, other than the chick looking at the camera. I've got some green screen car footage I might want to get some help with from you.

I'm debating getting a T2i myself, I wanted a GH1.. but now that they are starting to send out non hackable ones.. i dunno.

One of the guys that works at the school I do just got a T2i to do music vids. I told him about DVXU and this thread. The images on the T2i are looking brilliant by the way.

Thanks man. I'll be shifting her eyes in that shot. I'd be glad to help, just let me know.
The T2i has been a great little camera. It fits with my workflow perfectly, meaning that I personally don't need audio capabilities or the like.

Right on. If he posts any, send them my way. I love seeing what others are doing with the camera.

the biggest thing, is that I can afford the GH1.. I don' t have any issues with Audio either because I record sound seperate to an H4N anyway. I could do what I need to do with either camera, but I'd rather get the better of the two. But if I can't hack the GH1.. is it better than the T2i? I'm thinking not.

So get the GH1. No big loss. Remember, I'm shooting on the HG10 so you're both steps beyond me. I'm not complaining. I got the HG10 because it did what I needed and I could afford it.

I have the HV40 right now and I love it, I just want to move up with each film. I doubt I'd be upset with either camera.

I honestly never even looked into the GH1. I started with the 7D, saw it had the same video as the T2i, and decided to save some bucks by going with that =D

It seems that's what a lot of people do. They see the video is the same and save the cash. I did that but I was going to get and HF10 or 100 and I started reading about the HG10. The chip is actually bigger if I remember correctly and it had a built in harddrive and was $250-300 cheaper.

I originally posted this on facebook as a status, figured I'd post it here and see if anyone has experienced this.

I find it interesting that though I'm having more fun making this movie than any other project I've ever done, the novelty of making a feature film is nonexistent on this picture. The cool part about that is that every day I've had a a calm and cool head, I'm able to think clearly. I actually feel like I know what I'm doing and I think it's showing in what we've shot so far (I've been editing each night
, so I've already seen many of the scenes in a pretty advanced stage). Not sure really why I posted this. Just speaking my thoughts. lol

Also, here's some grabs from the last few days:

The real question is will Shane make that face again in this one? That's the action hero face. The film can sale on that alone. LOL. The grabs are really great. I think the look of this is already adding production value to it. In fact the top image isn't all that bad, what's missing is color correction. But it looks like you even seem to have managed to get some depth of field in there too. But yea, that bottom image is crisp, clean and nicely lit.

Nah, he has better action faces this time. Yeah, the grade I did for the first film was basically pull color out and add grain. The DoF was the old trick of stand back and zoom in. It's nice those days are over. The DoF I'm getting with the Rebel is perfect-Not too little, and not too much. You can still make out what's in the background. That's important to me.

A trick we used to do is light the foreground and keep the background darker. The camera generally can't pick up what's not well lit. But this only works when you have complete control of the lighting. Otherwise it doesn't work so well.

We've done something similar on this film. Mostly because we only have one light source and I'm using the kit lens meaning that at 50mm, which is where I've been keeping it, I'm only getting a stop of f5. So anything without light is instantly thrown into darkness, which is a really neat look =D

Here's a random shot of the timeline as of 8-13-10. We're getting there!
Aug112010Screencap.jpg
It's the full length of the 90 minute movie, with the black clip on the far right being the end credits. I like this shot because it allows me to visually see how much more we have to shoot and cut.
