Rise in Canon prices from Japan earthquake

I went to Sammy's Camera today after making a list form their website online and going in to purchase items in person and every Canon thing went up in price. I simply tried to buy a lens hood for two lenses I own and both went up 15 dollars each because of the Japan earthquake. They said all their Canon items are up in price and are in short supply. Anyone else run into this?

I followed the price(s) for Canon products up to the time I purchased
my T3i. That was purchased from Amazon for the advertised $899.
The 50mm f/1.8 lens though went from $119 -> $129. I'd say there's
a combination of speculation, market pressure and some lack of
product. I did hear on one technical podcast that Canon had "temporarily"
shut down it's "ProSumer" plants. No additional information was offered.
