RIP: Steve Jobs

Jobs wasn't just some wealthy entrepreneur who was looking for something to make money off of and found Wozniak. He had a passion and enthusiasm for computers, which lead him to befriending Wozniak, and from their passion created something great. It's the dream probably everyone here has.

And i think that's the whole point. His story is one that many would love to live. Many are trying for right now and right on this board. We may now want to start billion dollar software companies, but we'd love to get a film on the big screen and have someone pay a few million for it. LOL. I sure as heck would like that. But we're doing it out of passion, not to get rich, but the hope is that someone will take notice and maybe we could get paid for doing what we love and make it a career. Jobs did what he loved and it became his career.

I don't want to keep harping on this...but in 1982 the VIC-20 was the best-selling computer of the year, with 800,000 machines sold. It was the first 'home' computer and established the playing field.

In 1981, I was dialing into PAN on my trusty VIC-20 (http://www.pan.com/)!

(my last post on a subject that has no winners)

Sure, no doubt Commodore computers were popular in their days, but they were not the only one. And where are they now?

Surely you don't mean to put Commodore on the same level as Apple in terms of how each has impacted and contributed to society.

But I get your point..you don't think there should be a big deal about Jobs and Apple. Revisionism in the face of overwhelming evidence.

Very well said Nathyn. Isn't that what we'd all love to do?

Hollywood sure moves fast.

I vote for Les Grossman to play Steve Jobs--

They'll probably cast Ashton Kutcher though--

For god's sake, I've been saying it forever, Hollywood needs to remake "pirates of silicon valley" but this time with a real budget. Noah wylie looked just like 1980s jobs. I'm sure he's available. Again.

POSV was an awesome movie. I watched it and really enjoyed it as well as the way it was done, breaking the 4th wall and all. It made for a very entertaining movie.
