RIP Stephen J. Cannell

I wonder what the equivalent would be today of ripping a piece of paper out of a typewriter and throwing it over your shoulder onto a stack. Probably just hitting "send." Not quite the same triumphant visual. :)

You beat me to it...

That closing logo couldn't have been more inspiring to me as a boy-

Pulling a USB drive out of your computer and hurling it at your secretary.

When I was a kid I thought that was one of the cooler production-company IDs.

Wow. This has been one hell of a year.

Dennis Hopper, Tony Curtis, Glenn Shadix...

Who's next? Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson and Michael Caine?

Well...to the degree there's a bright side, it means that a lot of space is opening up for new talent...

He's an easy guy to joke about since so many of his shows fell on the side of cheese. But I grew up loving his stuff. I still remember that I was watching Baretta when a blackout hit in NYC.

The thing that really impressed me about him was how prolific and persistent he was. Above all, he was a writer, and yet he was Dyslexic, flunking both the 1st and 4th grades.

I see him as a consummate writer/producer. I don't know much about the TV industry, but I am guessing that there aren't any more like that. How many producers can even write?

Loved that show.

Wow, I didn't realize how many incarnations of that ID there were. (you can watch quite a few of them from that youtube link)

RIP.

EDIT: AND he made the goatee cool before any of those horrible grunge bands from the 90s!

So many shows that were part of my growing up, man, that bums me out. And that intro and logo is burned into my brain.
