RIP Pluto

Astronomers have now declared with the discovery of celestial bodies bigger than Pluto and considering Pluto's unstable orbital patterns that...

PLUTO IS NO LONGER CONSIDERED A PLANET

It is now considered an asteroid/dwarf planet.

Really wierd ...

We have 8 Planets now.

And while some may choose not to buy into that - there are many bodies equal to and even double Pluto's size in our Solar System so it makes sense. Astronomers also believe there are Earth sized planets well beyond Pluto that will soon be discovered and Pluto is too insignificant to be deemed a Planet.

The average person on Pluto would not even weigh 10 lbs and if you threw your DVX in the air on Pluto, you would probably send it into outer space LOL.

Interesting fact is there's precedent for this - Ceres, a body smaller than Pluto and I think farther out was oddly discovered about a century earlier in the 1800s and was considered a planet for a period of time, so we had nine 200 years ago, with Ceres listed after Neptune. Ceres was soon stripped of planetary status and forgotten as an entity all together.

So just think

Our grandkids may never even knew Pluto existed - hell I never heard of Ceres until today.

always came off like an a$$hole.

We should also Boot Uranus and Mercury.

Jupiter should be promoted to a very cold star

Can you imagine how pi$$ed the people on Pluto are going to be when they hear the news?

If they don't like it they can move to Uranus. :)

Does this mean that Disney has to change Mickey's dogs name to Ceres?

No Ceres is not a planet.

They'll have to change it to Uranus.

"Can I pet Uranus"

"Man, Uranus is itchy today"

LOL. Now I get it. I'm really going to have to brush up on my astrology ;)

All these scientist folk are tangled up in blue. Now all the factbooks and archives will have to be changed.

Who cares. We can take them, they only weight 10 lbs.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

now if only we could re-name EARTH.. it sounds so granola / tree hugger like.

and MUNDO sounds like a kid who has eaten to many tamales.

How many tax dollars were wasted getting this information? Seriously, we can barely get to the moon (that is, if we ever did...?) and we're worried about which planets are and which aren't? No wonder we don't have those water-powered flying cars yet.

2 skinnee J's (Pluto) said it best -

Discriminate
against the distant and disclaimers,
Cause small minds can't see past Uranus
When I shun their race
cause that's just a phase
and my odyssey runs in 2001 ways
And I can see clearly now like Hubbell
shoved off the shuttle,
here's my rebuttal
It's a planet.
Pluto, It's a planet!
