rigs from this place....

They are not the best. Whole ebay is full of this stuff.
As I remember V3 FF is their best yet. But not very good.
Same for rigs.
I suggest to look for Korean rigs by Gini.
They are more configurable.
Only shoulder pad is worse.

We are also now looking at http://www.chinafancier.com/ rig.
As soon as they'll be widely available they could set standard.
Because producer is largest tripods manufacturer in the world.

The rail is decent. Not the lightest system but plenty sturdy. It appears to have been made for a much larger camera system than a DSLR but it works ok with a GH1 if you really need that look. I have a $10 cheapo rig that you can fold up and stick in your pocket and I use that a lot. I have never used their follow focus system.

I ordered the Pro-Aim RS-2 Rail System from what appears to be CineCity's sister website, DVCity. I think it's a good value for the money, but as Vitaliy said, it's not the best. In addition to being rather heavy, the machining of the rail mounts is not very precise. I bought two quick release plates for the camera mount, and one of them only barely fits inside the mount bracket. Also, the hand-tightened locking bolts are very inconsistent in the amount of torque required to secure the mounts.

I have their rails. I couldn't use my minifocus with it and the mount scratched up my camera.

yeah POSTMASTER looks like thecrimeecity.com robbed your design a little bit. (who is the guy in your picture? i've wondered for a while now.)

true artists imitate (hold a mirror to nature/logic)... false artists just blindly copy!

this video is a gem! altho it does make my spine shiver!

I would be switching out between GH-13 and HVX200- so I thought it was a decent fit

Any movement on the bulk order idea you had? Sounds like a great idea.

Actually I have no idea who he is.

wow- :furious3:that sucks man, I remember those images... sorry man

Oh well.. I don´t give a sh...

They are not getting the idea (15 and 18 mm rods in one rig and some other features) at all.
Also precision and build quality of my rig is in a different league - plus I still have some tricks up in my sleeve

So who cares if they copy what they don´t understand.

Frank

We didn't get any reply from them for this moment.
It is quite normal for CHinese companies, as contrary to US their marketing and sales departments often work not very good.

That rig looks pretty bulky. For some reason I can't help but wanting to keep my rig as form factor as possible (been using a gunstock). I've finally came to the point where I will be upgrading (shooting a feature documentary) and will be doing a lot of handheld work.

Has anyone had any experience with any of these guys rigs??? I'm looking at this one specifically for the $price$ and seemingly great form-factor: http://express35.com/shoulder-rig-lite/831/ I've seen this with a FF and matte box...

Can't decide over this or a more conventional rig.

Every rig must be selected according to your task.
For example - your rig is very difficult to handle for any prolonged time because of no shoulder pad present and rig is not balanced.
If you want highly configurable rigs look at ebay for Gini rigs.
For something like $500-600 you could get everything with cage, etc.
And use in each of your tasks only required parts going from very light and small rig up to full pledged one with monitor mount and many things mounted on the cage.

Rigs are ok. Just use common sense. Obviously base plates and follow focus should be avoided, or other precision/quality dependent construction. Matteboxes are nice too, best on the market for that price. Even got swing-away fullsize mattbox for 400 usd. Know pro's using it.

Gini/zacuto construction is however a better investment using dslr's, also other home-made brands on ebay

those were my thoughts exactly, the follow focus was what I was really concerned about. However, I am interested in shoulder mount+matte box-

I'll be switching out GH13 and HVX200 on this, I shoot in pitboxes and garage area at nascar events so - a lot of standing around on your feet all day(shoulder mount is a must), but having to run-n-gun as well. I have a homemade shoulder mount now, attached to some rails and baseplate w/ homemade adjustable handles/grips but it isn't the most professional looking thing> and for some clients this is an issue....however I recently shot on a commercial set where the dp was impressed with the idea of 'Homedepot-ing' it. A couple of 7$ L brackets and some screws...(hehe) I'll post pics if I get a chance..

I bought the DSLR rig kit 11 and I must say..I expected the rails to be stainless or chromed steel. The rails are steel but painted a silver gray(pretty cheap). The mattebox is nice...the follow focus is decent. The only thing I can say is ...If it weren't for that counter balance it would really put allot of wear on your upper body. The rig is HEAVY! I would go for the Ultracompact Rig.

I believe Vitaliy bought this. I would like a review from him if he did. :)
