HVX200 to HDD- 'too many partitons' fix?

I understand now that you can only have around 15 partitions when exporting footage from the HVX200 to an HDD. Is there any way to delete a partition without having to reformat the entire drive?? I think this is a very strange/bad feature and it confuses me. I have a 1TB harddrive but because of the partition limitation i'm barely using a quarter of it. What can I do??? Please help me, I need to put my clients footage on this HDD ASAP. thankyou!!!!!

If you have a PC, when you connect the drive to the computer each partition should show up as a separate drive letter, and you can format each drive letter individually.

But if you want to get more footage on the drive, use your computer to create virtual P2 cards on the drive (all on the same partition), then you can fill it up all the way.

Interesting, thankyou. However i don't work on a PC, i use a mac, does this limit me in anyway? Can i still do this? How exactly do i go about formatting one of the many partitions, thankyou!

very interesting professoru.
how can i do this? wich software to use?
im on mac, too. so please excuse the dump question, thx.

More than likely the doc is saying to make your own fat32 partitions rather than have the HVX do it for you. I think the HVX does them in fat32, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, HVX uses fat32. I'm not sure how the HVX handles larger-sized partitions, but I know you still won't be able to hold more than 15 P2 cards on the same USB drive without transferring them to a computer first.

I'm not sure how partitions appear to the Mac OS, but if you stick with fat32, you'll be fully compatible with Mac and PC. I'm sure it can't be too complicated.

Panasonic's free P2CMS can create virtual P2 cards. You can merge two or more cards together into one card.

So you are saying use the P2CMS software to do this process.
Also the virtual drive is done by making your own fat32 partitions?

Also you said usb is that the only drive it will dump to in host mode?

thats true. when you use a external usb otg hdd, then you can transfer
your footage straight from the hvx to the drive until the drive is full.

I made 12 partitions 19.99 gigs a pop (250drive) and the HVX still wasn't happy with the Fat32 I made (it still wanted to format).

So I am stuck with the partitions from the HVX
