Rigging the O7Q

so is this option still a no go? I'm looking to attach to my camtree rig on the top rails (knock off of the movcam)

That Tilta EVF mount looks quite interesting. The only thing I see is that you will probably have to add a back plate to the Odyssey (like the ocean video mounting plate or even that Movcam plate) so that you have additional mounting holes closer to the corner of the Odyssey.

I can only imagine the front heavy weight pain. Anyone find it a struggle?
It's a struggle, but it's manageable.

did anyone try these? http://www.coollcd.com/evf-mounts_c939?zenid=9ccf51bc22e98171260d4e75dd796acd could work pretty well, with a modified top part of course... just saw that they have a 8" sunhood too!
Those look very similar to the Wooden Camera LCD/EVF mounts and I did try one of them. http://woodencamera.com/Sony/EVF-Mounts-Sony/UVF-Mount-LCD-Kit.html

I found that the Odyssey (with the battery attached to the rear) was just way too heavy for their arm and it had too much flex. It caused the Odyssey to droop down on the outside rather than staying in a level horizontal position. This was a no-go for me as I wanted to be able to use the top edge of the Odyssey as a guide to keep the camera in line with the horizon when hand held/shoulder mounted.

Thank you,

Can you provide a reference to this model on the Vocas web site? I saw something, but I'm not sure it's the same.
The main part is a universal base originally designed for the F5/55. It is designed to snap onto a Sony VCT-14 quick release plate, which is how large 2/3" vide cameras have mounted to tripods since the 70s.

Add this small riser piece to get the FS700 to the correct distance to the rods for matteboxes, etc.

There are other useful items, such as a handgrip adapter so that the Sony handgrip can be mounted on frontrods at an appropriate position to be comfortable. Makes a huge difference. If you want to see it all mounted up on an FS700, check out the video I did for the Sony FS700/Odyssey7Q bundle.
