I have been reading through the threads here on cages and not seeing what would I like to use. Perhaps I am just not finding it or what I am looking to do is not that practical.

I would like an L bracket that sits on the tripod that can hold a monitor and have the capability to add some rails for FF. The GH3 would attach to the L bracket with a QR so I can easily get the camera off the tripod/L bracket for stills.

I just ordered the ikan 7 inch monitor, they are now back in stock at B and H, and am not going to use the camera hot shoe to hold a monitor.

The solutions I am seeing, (honu, chalmeleon, etc) keep the camera anchored in the cage and I dont need a cage or monitor when doing stills. Having the camera anchored in the cage makes sense for doing hand held work but I havent found myself doing hand held video shots.

I know you feel you don't want a "cage" but the GB2 comes with rods and a rod adapter. The fit of the GB series is much less confining than the Honu (I have both) and flexibile enough to use with most any camera. I have a Manfrotto quick release adapter on mine so any camera slides in and out with no effort other than putting the 501PL camera plate on the bottom of the camera.

I added 3 cold shoes (ordered from amazon) on top and if I had a monitor it would go up there easily.

Watch BOTH videos on the GearBox series to get a better idea of whether or not you could make it work for you.

The price is sure right!
