GH4 Reverb effect when GH4 plugged into HDMI monitor

I have a shoot in two days, and I'm planning on using my Samsung HD TV with HDMI as a monitor.
I just tried using it with my GH4 and when it's plugged in, I get a reverb effect through my headphones, which are coming out of the camera. The reverb gets recorded, so that's the main problem. Is there a camera setting I need to change?
I have the TV muted, fyi.
Thanks!
Andrew

Rather than just muting the TV vol., have you tried setting it to zero so the pre-amps are getting no signal?

Still nothing. It's more of a delay than an echo, but with a light reverb sound. There's an option in the menu called SOUND OUTPUT that is grayed in. It is set to REC SOUND. I seem to remember this being the problem a while back with a similar issue. Only problem is, it's grayed in so I can't select it.

From linked discussion above: "Any time you plug into the HDMI port, you loose the ability for real time audio monitoring as a selectable menu item."
Though..discussion didn't mention the echo being recorded. Have you confirmed it's recorded by playing file outside cam?

Just tried playing it back on my MacBook Pro, and yes, the reverb is still there. I also tried installing the firmware 2.1 update, but the camera didn't seem to recognize it which makes me think it's already running it?

You can check the firmware version number in the camera menu. ( I don't remember exactly where it is offhand )

Plug your headphones into your monitor and the problem will likely stop. Turning the sound down all the way on the monitor will likely also help. I get the same thing with my Lilliput monitor. Both solutions work for me. Cheers.

Do you have on onboard monitor? I had to go into the menu on my monitor to set the audio input to AV. Even with the sound turned all the way down on the monitor, there was still a little bit of sound coming out of the speaker as long as the audio input was set to HDMI.

Got it! I was monitoring through my camera. I tried plugging into my BeachTek and it went away.
Case closed.
