SHORT: Revenge Served Cold

Here is a short I shot in January - March. Five days of shooting, five scenes, 3 locations, 16 pages, 19 minutes. I spent five months on post.

I like to do everything myself. No, let's correct that. I'm a control freak when it comes to my movie and I just don't know how to let someone else do the work. What if I hate it?

Picture editing was quick with no need for pickups. Sound went reasonably well with three lines that has to be ADR'd. Grading drove me nuts. It was my first time doing it. Effects took a long time as I had to buy a new computer to handle the effects and I watch dozens of tutorials. Davinci Resolve's Fusion effects software nearly drove me mad. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but when you are learning on your own, well, you know, it is very frustrating when things don't work or give you unexpected results.

Music was an experience. I know nothing about music, but I tried to put in the music cues and when I realized I didn't know what I was doing, I auditioned two composers. I thought their material was uninspired. So I decided I needed to learn how to do music cues. I think it came out ok.

It has all the elements. If you are anything like me you were already having "next time" images clouding your mind the instant you sent it on its way.

Overall, I was pretty satisfied.
You should be. Considering your statement about this being a first time grading experience. Bravo! Well done. 100% better than my first time. Davinci is a deep set of tools and I think if you are pretty close to a newbie on Resolve you have done very, very well. Cudos!
