Resolution

Re: Resolution

i thought ALL prosumer digital cameras have 530 LOR (in 4x3 of course) and 480 on a television. am i wrong?

Re: Resolution

I think most say promuser dv camera's ie vx2100 - pd170 (unless in DVCAM mode then it's 550) advertise they offer 500 lines of horizontal.

Re: Resolution

but in catalogs...... VX2000 and in general all Sony cameras say "up to" 530 LOR. probably a gimmick, cause then the 1 chip trv70 i have would put out the same resolution as the vx. which im pretty sure it does not, in comparing the images from each. Some 1 chip canons even claim 540 lor. oh advertising.........

Re: Resolution

err not all are advertised as such, just the high end consumer models.

Re: Resolution

Just a note.. even if the final output is say 720x480, a camera that ha higher resolution CCD's will always make a better photo.

it doesnt say though "ONLY 480 LINES on a 4x3 television"
ever wonder why it looks better on your computer than on your television?

Re: Resolution

Prob'ly because the computer is progressive-scan, can display millions more colors than a TV, has better contrast, and is almost always set to a resolution much higher than a TV, so the video appears smaller, and as such, better -- even at 720x480, not 540.
