Res Fest and the HVX200

Hi folks,

Panasonic is a sponsor of Res Fest and as such we are going to be a part of the program. I am posting a schedule of seminars that we will be doing at the four Res Fests that are taking place in the US. These seminars are open to the public and we should have a working HVX200 there. You may also wish to engage in some of the other activities and films that will be shown. Next week, their full website will be up at www.resfest.com and you can check that out as well.

Anyhow I hope to see some of you there.

Thanks, Jan! Quick question... You mention that admission to the Panasonic events is open to the public. Does one have to purchase admission (RESPASS) in order to attend the Panasonic seminar, or is it free?

Thanks in advance!

... just razzle dazzle them with a shiney quarter you drop, and run in real qick. :)
..any way to reserve a seat? im going to see what i can do to make one of these.

oh baby. res mag+resfest+hvx200 presentation=ME(being there)
Res is one of my favorite mags.
thanks for the info Jan.

You say a "working model".

Does this mean we'll get to see footage from it?

Please say yes.

Well we will see images but right now I am not sure it will be recording or sending out over 1394. I might have to record to a DVCPRO HD tape but it is really a wait and see once we get to IBC and I can see what I am going to bring back with me. Worst case is that we will see the images that the camera will produce.

Best,

Jan

Excellent. I'll try to be there at the NYC seminar. Can't wait to see the HVX in person!

Is it worth $46 for a bus, then the cost of a hotel, plus missing a weekend from school? Probably not, but oh well, I'll still try to make it to NYC. This camera looks way too cool.

Also, Jan, for the love of God, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include a 180 degree flip option like on the Varicam for 35mm adapter devices. I know the CCDs natively see 180 degrees flipped and the code already exists for the Varicam so it can't be hard and it would mean so much to users of 35mm adapters.

Hey Jan,
so there will be a working HVX at the IBC?
And maybe, only maybe, there will be a small chance to maybe, but only maybe, upload some footage on one of these fancy USB drives I'm always carrying with me (yes, always never know when you encounter these rare pana presale models hehehe...)?

P.S. There supposed to be a manic smiley at the end of this post...

There will be a working prototype, yes. But keep in mind that it's still over two months away from being a production model, so don't be surprised if some features aren't "done" yet.

Chicago Seating availability

Jan,

You say only 100 seats here in Chicago. Is it first come first serve, or can I make a reservation for myself and one from my group?

Let me know...

Dear Jan,

Even though it is not the appropriate thread for this, I'd like to join Policar in the request for the in-camera 180 degree flip for 35mm adapters.
It could be very significant to us indi filmmakers and would help maintain the P2 workflow as smooth as it meant to be!

Even if it seems too late for changes in specs, please try to get this one into the production model, since it is an extremely important functionality!

Thanks.

What's the catch to do it in post?
Makes the camera potentially cheaper (you pay for features, too, not only parts and labour), less prone to false handling and potential failure. Keep in mind, this is not a classic camera but a computer with a sensor and a lens attached to it. So keep that thing a simple as possible to make sure it works even when you are miles away from controlled envorinment.

It's just a pain in the arse, and will degrade quality...in a lot instances.

Makes it even easier to implement

It need'nt be complicated, only a single menu option, and should cost nothing - It would certainly make things easier, not harder.
