Request for footage to test pulldown removal and convert

Hello,

This is just a simple request for someone to upload some of their footage in the original format recorded to the memory card, so that I can put my system through the trials of removing pulldown and converting the AVCHD codec to something I can work with.

If possible, I'd like to try both a 1080 24p file and a 720 60p file. The longer in length the files, the better, because I'll be doing long takes (wedding video). However, *anything* would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help.

P.S. I can't find anyplace that rents the camera here in the DFW area, hence my problem. I wish I could get my hands on it and really see if it feels right.

30/60p does not involve a 'pulldown/up'. Only 24p as encoded in 60i requires pullingaround...

I don't have my media handy at the moment... other wise I could upload some 1080 24p encoded as 60i test clips.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, pulldown should only be removed for 1080 24p footage, but I do wonder what it would be like to convert AVCHD to another format for 720 60p. I don't have the fastest computer around so I want to know what kind of time investment I'll be making.

Have you tried Edius Neo2 Booster as an editor? You can download a free trial and I am completely blown away by how fast it will edit AVCHD footage even on non-top-of-the-line computers - may be worth a try - I was a Vegas and Premiere guy before but I'm actually so impressed by what Edius Neo2 Booster can do and how stable it is (not to mention it's also very inexpensive) that I'm switching. It doesn't have great functionality for editing audio in the timeline, but I don't mind editing the audio in another program given how well it does everything else.

Let me add another plug for Edius Neo 2 Booster --- Its the only editor that I've tried that correctly plays and edits the 1080p footage from the GH1. It makes all the hassles of AVCHD and 24p in 60i completely disappear.

Wait -- are you saying that EDIUS Neo 2 with the booster will automatically properly strip the pulldown out of GH1 files?

I haven't installed Neo 2 because it requires uninstalling EDIUS Pro, but man, if it knew how to deal with the pulldown and strip it out, that right there might be worth it (at least until EDIUS updates the Pro version with the Booster capabilities).
